I have always thought where the heck some names for Railtours come from.

Beet Route, Herman Munster or Suir (pron. sure) Thing.

Last weekends 'The Shambles' sounds rather odd - though of course it is named after The Shambles in york.

"The Man from Beluncle", "The Blueberry Fool" both of which were very good, "The Grinkle Belle", "The Ferry Go Round". To name a few.

Alloa 'Alloer and the Pye Bridge Pieman were both good names and good tours!

There have been loads of railtours with cryptic names

For example, 'The Lost Sheep' was a Hertfordshire tour run in 2003, which covered many lines along the south coast, including Bopeep Junction near Hastings.

Just after Milton Keynes Central opened in the 1980s a railtour which visited there was called 'The Concrete Cow'.

And how about the 'Coalville Cobbler' railtours which ran to the annual Coalville open days using Mk1 stock from Northampton commuter services, hence 'cobbler'.

Another favourite of mine was 'The Long Thin Drag', a Hastings DEMU farewell railtour which travelled over the Settle & Carlisle line.

All from Ireland (unsure who ran them):

Gorey Detail (Gorey station in North Co. Wexford on the Rosslare Europort-Dublin line).

Clockwork Orange (may possibly have been hauled by one or a pair of 121 class locos)

Cavan Coup (NIR railbus tour on the now disconnected Kingscourt, Co. Cavan line - 1990 I think).
