Hi all,

New to this forum so hello everyone.

Looking for some advice if any of you can help.

I currently work for a toc, and have applied for the position of trainee driver with another toc and passed the assessments. If i did decide to stay with my current company and wait for them to start recruiting trainee drivers would i be able to transfer my results over to them??

Could the company i sat the assessments with refuse to transfer the results or are these now on a national database? i know they probably wont be obliged to share my results with anyone else or if they'd make it difficult for me if i turned down their job offer?

Eddie.

Hi
I recently attended an assessment centre and was told that the results were held on a national database. Depending on the TOC you are applying for the results are valid from 18 months to 5 years. FCC for example will accept applications from those passing assessments from a maximum of 3 years.

Congratulations,

The only real risk is not passing your managers interview with your current toc, because all results will be valid, unless your toc does any additional test specific to that company.

One thing I'd suggest is find out the average intake of internal staff to trainee drivers, because you may find they take a higher percentage of external candidates!!

Passing the tests does not guarantee you a job.

Eddie.

Simple answer is what is the likelyhood of there being any trainee vacs at your current TOC?
I think you'd be daft to turn down a trainee driver position elsewhere, on the off chance that you might be offered one where you are now.

Easy answer (as already stated) is yes, BUT if your company insists on any other tests (mechanical for instance) then you will have to sit that and if you fail that then it will be classed as a complete fail.

I would take the trainee job and then look at transferring back to your original TOC as a qualified driver, you may have a wait a few years but it would get you in the job.

Sounds like the best advice. I passed all assessments/interviews with two different TOC's. I decided to go to the one that offered me a job first (even though it means relocating). It's lucky I did because TOC for the local job then put me in a talent pool and told me that if no job came up in 6 months I would have to reapply (though my assessment pass would still stand). I would have been seriously annoyed if I had missed out!

I would take the first opportunity you get if it's what you want to do.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think you're right though. I should take the first opportunity I get really.
