I know it s a morbid subject but what happened to the two locomotives involved in the crash, 86211 and 86429?.Where they damaged beyond repair?

Yes, both complete write off's. They bore the brunt of the collision and the driver of 86211 was killed. The accident, although bad, would have been much worse had the loco's not absorbed most of the energy of the impact.

In 1986 two Class 86s locos were written off in the fatal Colwich crash. These were 86211 City of Milton Keynes (the only 86 never to receive a version of InterCity livery) and 86429 The Times (originally E3200 - the last numbered loco).

Saw that on the AC website.

I seem to remember that crash as ironically the company behind The Times newspaper had just terminated the contract to transport them by rail.

Does anybody know what happened to 86239 which was involved in Rickerscote crash in 1996?

Stored at Crewe Works for a while because it was originally going to be fixed, but the extent of the damage was such that it was also withdrawn April96 and scrapped April97.

Probably less to do with the extent of the damage and more to do with EWS' plans to withdraw their class 86 fleet.

Yes ive seen it several times, does anybody still look after it? There was a old man from Colwich who did it but he's gone now.
It nearly got closed a few years ago because its was the other side if pallaside fencing and you had to have a PTS to go near it, that many complaints thar the gate got moved.

There is a street in Crewe named after Eric Goode, its where the old Pway club was

According to Wiki, the garden was 'rededicated' on Sep 17th 2006, the sunday before the 20th anniversary of the collision.
