Rochdale to Loughborough

Hello there.

I'm contemplating a trip to the GCR at Loughborough, and looking for the cheapest means of doing so. I'll be going on a Saturday, starting as early as possible and coming back in a leisurely manner.

The cheapest way I've found is using a peak wayfarer ticket from Rochdale to Matlock (train to Buxton, then bus) for £10, then day singles @ £6.90 each to/from Loughborough.

I don't have a railcard and don't wish to commit to advance purchase tickets.

Can anyone do any better?

NR website (via my Phone) quoted £15.10 for this, which did not make sense!

£15.10 is for an Off Peak Return which allows you to return anytime up to a month. £11.40 is for an Anytime Day Return.
