Im just intrigued as to why a two car 158 was in Devon

I think they come to Devon for training the Exeter based staff in those units, for if they ever need to operate services they operate in an emergency, I'm far from sure though

Or, it could be for maintenance at Exeter, though I can't see why they wouldn't be able to do anything Exeter can at PM.

Or perhaps there was a shortage of DMU's at Exeter, and Bristol had a spare 158 which they sent.

This is a booked working Monday - Thursday, it comes down on 2C77 1300 Cardiff Ctl - Exeter SD where it joins at Bristol TM.

It then works the 1710 Exeter St Davids to St James Park, then the service to Paignton, and then back to Exeter St Davids, before working the service you saw it on.

Thinking about it, I've not seen a 158 south of Taunton for years, and they not that common there any more.

I was thinking that I'd never seen a 158 in Devon until yesterday. Last night, around 18:00, a 158 (well I thought it was from a distance) sat there in platform 2, and then the 12:48 Paignton - Cardiff today was worked by a 3 car 158 (158960).

Never seen one in Devon before, then 2 in 2 days!
