Hopefully, just a quick question...

Will be travelling Newcastle to Carlisle on an Anytime return, and I'd like to stop off in a number of towns along the way (all on the same day though). I just wanted to check that the ticket rules allow me to break my journey multiple times (obviously no doubling back)?

Thanks

Yes - no BOJ restrictions at all on Anytime (Day) Singles/Returns, so long as you travel within the validity of the ticket.

You can break your journey as much as you want at every station if you really wanted to!

A related question please , can you do multiple BOJ on off-peak day return tickets ?

I'm looking at Reading/Paddington return stopping at Acton ML, Slough,Maidenhead & Twyford to pick off the branch line sets.

Provided that there is no break of journey restriction, there is no limit to how many times you may break your journey along the route, within the validity of the ticket and obviously not backtracking either.

Even at Dunston-on-Tyne? :p

Well, you'd have a limited number of trains that you could get to stop off there, although MetroCentre is a 15-20 minute walk so you could get off at Dunston and do that.

Branch at Acton? Ealing Broadway might be more convenient (to see the Greenford units).

Obviously on the ticket you are proposing you can't actually travel on the branches (you'd need either appropriate tickets or the ranger).
