Hi all

I'm doing a trip to Deal from Stourbridge at the end of August and I need some ticketing suggestions.

Thing is on the outward I will be going from Caerphilly to Deal via Stourbridge Junction but will be only doing Deal to SBJ on the return so this complicates things.

16-25 railcard discount applies

OUT 25AUG12
RTN 01SEP12 (only as far as Stourbridge Junction!)

WALK ON TICKETS ONLY!

Also, I intend to do a few trips along the Minster curve from Deal/Canterbury during the morning peak on the M-F and also the evening peak so I need some season ticket suggestions.

Cheers on advance for any help.

Just to make sure that you are aware that the trains direct between Minster and Deal only go Deal-bound in the morning, and Minster-bound in the mid-afternoon (approx 4pm and 5 pm)?

Ouch. That's going to be expensive because there's no permitted route between Caerphilly and Deal via Stourbridge. Would you consider going on Chiltern or London Midland? The latter is good value(if rather slow) from Hereford to Euston. And do you want to use HS1 to Deal?

If you want to travel on the fastest route, you're looking at something like this (minus your railcard discount):
Code:
Standard Class
£109.00
Costs £30.00 more

CAERPHILLY to HEREFORD
ANYTIME DAY S
Fare £22.00
Route ANY PERMITTED

HEREFORD to COVENTRY
OFF-PEAK R
Fare £19.90
Route ANY PERMITTED
Restriction ([URL="http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/pdfs/SVR_CS.pdf"]CS[/URL])

COVENTRY to DEAL
OFF-PEAK R
Fare £69.10
Route +ANY PERMITTED
Restriction ([URL="http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/pdfs/SVR_2C.pdf"]2C[/URL])

Why would the OP consider a Off Peak Return from Caerphilly to Hereford?. From what I can understand the OP wishes to travel :

Caerphilly - Stourbridge - Deal ( OP mentions no BOJ in Stourbridge) 25th AUG
Deal - Stourbridge 1st SEP

Well - the OP wants to go via Stourbridge on the outbound, even if they don't BOJ there. Yes - they could just get a single from Caerphilly to Hereford though - which does reduce that leg to £22 - nice to see a TOC not pricing singles at just under the return price.

I have adjusted the costs to reflect this.

Yes i am aware of that and thats why just to clear some crossovers etc

I would actually prefer to use CR on that route as I can attempt to cop my last required 168! HS1 is also required too (for track clearance purposes).

OK - you can still buy the Caerphilly to Hereford single and then the following from Hereford to Deal. As ever, prices exclude your railcard discount:

Code:
HEREFORD to BIRMINGHAM STNS
OFF-PEAK R
Fare £17.80
Route ANY PERMITTED
Restriction ([URL="http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/pdfs/SVR_CS.pdf"]CS[/URL])

BIRMINGHAM STNS to DEAL
SUPER OFFPEAK R
Fare £55.00
Route +VIA HIGH WYCOMBE
Restriction ([URL="http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/pdfs/OPR_PV.pdf"]PV[/URL])
