What are the chances of seeing a 'Peak' on the mainline again?

Once mundane - I would have curled my nose if one appeared in the late 1970s/ early 1980s, but would love to be hauled by one again today.

I would think that it is quite likely that we will see a Peak back on the main line before the end of the decade: It's not long since 45112 was taken off the mainline, and before that of course there was "Ixion", which ended the mainline preserved diesel ban in the nineties.

As soon as it happens, I'd like to be there. The noise from that engine is only behind a whistler and a deltic. Had my head out the window on the GCR not that long ago. It was magnificent.

I remember stopping of at whitemoor yard in
March to see 30 or more of them rusting away in the late 80's. As a 9 year old, it was a sombre experience.

I just saw a Peak in a siding attached to an engineering train at Derby a few moments ago as we crawled past. (well it was an all over blue locomotive with four axles per bogie.... I don't know many other surviving classes that fit that description)

I also saw a random stretch of OLE.... maybe I am seeing things.

Heard a few months back that 45118 is undergoing work when RVEL have time to fit in the workshop with the existing work (maintaining NR fleet, work on 73104/139/211).
Hope this helps, Sam
