Hi everyone

Just thinking ahead to july - the queen is coming to Leeds on the royal train - I appreciate security is high - but does anyone know the haulage, stock , platform etc

Really the best vantage points

Cheers

Her majesty will most probably travel via her own train which is class 67 hauled.

Nobody will know which route is taken or platform as it's a highly kept secret.

The motive power is easy to predict - It'll be either the Silver Jubilee 67, 67026, or one of the two Royal claret liveried locos, 67005 or 67006. No doubt both if there is a need for the train to be top and tailed for stabling purposes.

The Royal Trains is made up of a mix of converted (or in a small number of cases, purpose built) mark 2 and mark 3 vehicles that will certainly include the Queen's Saloon 2903, formerly prototype HST First Open 11001.

The remainder of the Royal Train stock is as follows:
2904 - The Duke of Edinburgh's Saloon - Previously prototype HST TSO 12001
2915 - Household sleeping car - Mark 3 sleeping car
2916 - The Prince of Wales' dining car - Converted from HST mark 3 restaurant/kitchen vehicle 40512.
2917 - Royal Kitchen/Household dining car - Converted from HST mark 3 restaurant/kitchen vehicle 40514.
2918 - Royak Household car - Converted from HST mark 3 restaurant/kitchen vehicle 40515
2919 - Royal Household car - Converted from HST mark 3 restaurant/kitchen vehicle 40518
2920 - Royal Household couchette - Converted from mark 2B BFK 14109.
2921 - Royal Household couchette - Converted from mark 2B BFK 14107.
2922 - The Prince of Wales' Sleeping Car - Purpose built mark 3 vehicle.
2923 - Royal Saloon - Purpose built mark 3 vehicle.

The platform that it is due to arrive into on the day will be apparent as the one with a red carpet laid out ;)

Thanks, Robbies, for the Telegraph vid. The Royal Train is nowhere near as opulent as I expected, although I'm sure regular commuters condemned to stand for most of their journeys would still see it as the height of luxury.

I thought the Royal Train was always top+tailed?

The timings etc are not released till 24hrs before, each signal box is issued a sealed envelope which is not to be opened till a agreed time. This provides the time and route and is not shown on tops

Royal Train is NOT going to Leeds in July.

It sometimes, does run with only one loco, but not often. Red carpets, on platforms, are seldom, now used.

Sorry to dissappoint.

If the Royal Train does go to Leeds one thing I can hazard a guess at is that it will use a platform that has direct acess to the outside of the station, as I don,t think the Queen and Phil will be using the escaltor,s or lift,s to leave the station. So that will narrow it down to a platform or two.

If you lookm in the local paper they will have all the details reavealed beforehand as they did at Hull once right down to time of arrival and which station platform they would arrive on etc.

On Network it will be a big secret till the day before, but everyone will know whats happening.

If you read my message, you will see that I did put IF it went to Leeds.

Problem on here is some people just don,t read what people have put in there message and jump to answer with out reading everything.

Sorrry if it upsets anyone reading this.

"I apologise for not reading it fully."

Have you got a verifiable source for that? Affirmation of what you said previously does not count as a source.

"Mike, trust me, I know, mate."

How can I put this.

I am the source, and know every workings, in advance. However, by signing certain documents, I am not at liberty to say, where and when. I did think I was trying to help, by not building up peoples hopes at Leeds. Birmingham, yes, Leeds no.

Hope this clears things up.
