Today as I left Chester station at around 14:50 I noticed a silver livered bus with the wording along the lines of "Rail Link Bus" in red letters at the top. I glanced down at the address by the door and it was registered to a company in Gravesend, Kent. There was no obvious 'on hire' notice. Was this bus being used on hire by Aintree Coachlines or another company that serves the station or has a company from the South East registered a route in Chester?

Could be they have forgotten to remove the legal lettering of the company that the vehicle was purchased from ( It does happen from time to time but it shouldn't).

I suspect I know where the vehicle has come from is it blue & silver liveried?

I didn't notice any blue but I only got a quick look before it moved off. I may have remembered the letting colour wrongly but the colour of the bus was mainly silver.

Was it Arriva? Could've just been transferred from Kent.
Or there are some companies (like Ensign Bus of Essex) that hire buses out to operators as required.

True I was thinking perhaps it could have been Ensign especially now you mentioned they do hire out vehicles to operators (Something I forgot about)

Haven't Aintree Coachlines been using an ex-Ensign Enviro400 on the Chester rail link service? It could well be that if it was blue and silver.

It could well have come via Ensign, but its not one of Ensign's own fleet as their registered address is Purfleet, Essex.

Yes, but it's recently been repainted into Helms' own livery.

I think the vehicle the OP is referring to is a Enviro 200. The livery is similar to Ensign & this vehicle has tinted windows all round - to the point where you can't see in the darned thing!

Yes I remeber when Edwards coaches her in southw ales had an enviro 200 demonstrator which had tinted windows. Of course it had the same response from passengers who said they could see out of the windows
