Today I left home after checking the running of the 12:17 Manchester-Chester and it apparently left Piccadilly at 12:20. I went to catch this train at Knutsford but after 13:05 there was no sign of the train and the man from the ticket office came out and told us there wouldn't be a train for Chester until 2. Does anyone know what happened? I'm guessing a unit failed in service.

I was actually surprised that when the 13:17 Manchester-Chester (a 150) arrived in Chester it was attached to another 150 that was sat there. I thought that only applied Monday-Friday.

Inconsiderate ****s.

I take it the driver was OK and switched ends to return the unit as there weren't any knock on delays.

Given it runs non stop from Picc to Stockport, I'd be surprised if the vandalism happened there, even considering the places it passes on the way from MAN to SPT. I didn't think anywhere from SPT to Knutsford was that bad.

It goes through Baguley and Northenden between Stockport and Altrincham. It also goes very close to the construction site for the Airport Metrolink line so plenty of building materials lying around.

A Pendolino was once bricked as it travelled through Levenshulme. I was going to say it should be easier to hit because it's longer but I'm not sure about that considering the size of the windows and the faster speed.

If was a 150 that was vandalised double Grr. It was replaced by a Merseytravel 142 for the 15:17 Manchester-Chester and 17:07 Chester-Manchester services and the 17:07 service was fairly full.

I take it I'm not supposed to read that as a 57 coach train then :(

I hope it'll make a quick recovery. I don't want Merseytravel 142s going round Deansgate Junction!

That would be good and it would increase fuel efficiency.

"The next station is Navigation Road and Altrincham and Hale and Ashley. Passengers for Navigation Road use the rear 6 coaches only, passengers for Altrincham use coaches numbers..."

The 57 coach refers to which of the two coaches on the 150. Look for numbering on the side of the train next time you see one.

Scumbags. I remember being on a 175 Picc to Llandudno crossing Chat Moss when I heard a crack on the window. Looked out to see two hooded chavs taking potshots with an air rifle.

You mean scallies?

Chavs in the south and midlands, Scallies in the M62 belt (especially the west bit), Charvers in the North-East and Neds in Scotland.
