Conisbrough to Ormskirk - Friday 13th July

Hi all,

I have a meeting at Edge Hill University next Friday, and have only been told about it today.

I have a 16-25 railcard and live in Conisbrough, South Yorkshire.

I also own a Conisbrough - York monthly season pass, but that route doesn't look any cheaper, in fact more expensive.

What's the cheapest you can do me for a return, arriving before 1pm and departing after 3pm?

Eastcoast.co.uk is showing a standard fare of:

£28.05 via Meadowhall, Manchester Picc and Preston.

It's not a Peak Wayfarer that you would require from Grindleford to Wigan but a Manchester Wayfarer. Not very practical if you are intending to travel next Friday because these are only available at staffed stations within the Greater Manchester Area and from certain Manchester Area Bus Stations and Peak District Tourist Information Centres.

Although the idea of splitting at Stockport is the cheapest option this is an Off Peak Day Return and the first train from Conisbrough that it's valid on is at 0933 and this may be pushing it to get to Ormskirk on time.

Another option to save a few pounds on the £28.05 fare is if its not too inconvenient is to travel from Mexborough instead of Conisbrough where the fare is only £22.65.
