Rolling Stock Lifespans

I don't know if there is already a thread for this and if so this one can be deleted but if there isn't one then here it is.
I was wondering what is the lifespan of the rolling stock on the London underground. The ones i know are in red bellow. The ones blanc I'm unsure about. As seen I don't really know how long the trains were designed to last for so could anyone help. If so thanks

As far as I know the chassis of the S Stock is designed to last for twenty-five years, in which case I can't see them lasting for forty!

I apologise if this is inaccurate information, but I recall Tube rolling stock from 1967 being in service until 2011.

And the 1938 stock on the isle of wight is still running

Considering that 1938 Stock is still going on the Isle of Wight, and was still on the Northern Line in 1988, then I'd expect the last train of 2009 stock to retire around the 2060s or so.

I can see the 73s have a very long and prosperous life .

You might as well put down 52 for A Stock .

I think the OP is looking for the design life rather than the actual achieved life or likely life?

If it is true that the S Stock only has a 25 year design life, that is a bit shockingly short isn't it?

In terms of actual life - bear in mind that the oldest 1972 stock units running now are more or less the same age as the youngest 1938 stock units were when those were finally withdrawn from the Bakerloo in the late 1980s...

S Stock has design life of 40 years. 09 Stock has a Car Body design life of 36 years.

Doesn't necessarily mean they will be replaced then, but I would take that as - start looking for a replacement at the 40 year mark!
