Hi- hubby is soon to attend the Greater Anglia Assessment Day (for trainee conductor). Has anyone got any hints or tips, I think he's getting a bit nervous at the thought of role play! Shame, as he'd love to get the job...

Thanks for the replies, he applied for the job 4 months ago so we'd assumed he hadn't been successful, until the letter arrived!

The role play is just you and the examiner, no other candidates are present. It's meant to simulate an on-board situation. You check tickets and deal with issues that arise (ticket is out of date, sell the correct one, provide running info, apologise for delays, arrange assistance etc).

It's slightly strange, but not scary at all.

Is that for the conductors job that was advertised a couple of weeks ago? When is his assessment?

I previously done the role play. You get info before hand to read through regarding information relevant to the scenario. Stations, tickets etc from what i remember.

hi

I am a guard with greater anglia. When i sat mine first was the paragraph test, then the checking and selling test. After a break was the concentration test (this is the scaat test with the symbols). We then sat a test called the versant test;

For this we were required to call a number and when propted were to read statements off a printed sheet of paper. Then were asked questions like 'where would you get water from: a bottle or a newspaper,? That test is nothing to worry about.

The role play was just an on train scenario. Mine was a passenger on the wrong train and requiring to change trains and platforms. You get time to make notes and are given a lot of Information to help, which you can take in with you.

Good luck, where is he applying for?

Not sure we can be of much help- we are assuming hubby was unsuccessful as we haven't heard back from them since...!

He's tried to get some feedback but they haven't returned his call yet. :(

Hi Jebbo. I too have an assessment day coming up. Can your hubby confirm what the day consists of? Thanks

I would say just give them time. They work to priorities and when its time to work on the pile of files your husband's is in then I'm sure you'll hear from them.:D
