Yesterday I ordered 2 of these for 18 july for £12 each. Rec'd reservation code from Southern but machines at Victoria do not recognise the reservation number. Can we only collect these tickets on the actual day of use ? I would like to collect in advance as i live in watford where there are no Southern ticket machines. Info does not suggest you can only collect on the day, just says 2 hours after purchase / reservation. Thanks in advance for your help !

The collection reference should be seven characters (alpha-numerical) long. Did you try this code or did you get it mixed up with the booking reference which is much longer?

I keyed in the 7 digit reservation letters / numbers (not the reference number) in 2 different Southern (not South Eastern) machines at Victoria station. Machines said 'no record of reservation'. Is your opinion that one can only collect tickets TOD or should it be possible in advance ?

I buy nearly all my tickets online and always pick then in advance of travel. Not seen the error you are seeing. I have once had an East Coast booking that twice told me I had already picked up the tickets and then on the third try issued them. The two hours after purchase seems to be pretty standard for online ticket purchases.

I wonder if somthing has gone wrong with you buying them on the last day that you can in advance of the 18th?

Edit - a quick query. Did you get the separate email with your Ticket on Departure reference?

I think you can collect them from the ticket office at Victoria as well if the machines get funny. I have certainly done this before although I am unsure whether this arrangement has changed.

We collected from the ticket office at Victoria this evening where the booking clerk eventually found the reservation and gave us our Day Saver tickets. The ticket machines were still not recognising the transaction.

Thanks everyone for your help with this !

I have had this problem with picking up these tickets at Victoria. There are two banks of machines opposite the main ticket office and only the left hand (looking away from the ticket office) bank of machines will issue the day tickets.

There are some subtle differences between the machines which I cannot remember but it is a pain as I usually forget which set to use and have to go through the rigmarole twice to get the tickets.

One thing that might be worth explaining is that at present Daysave tickets can only be fulfilled by ticket on departure (TOD) at Southern stations because rover tickets are not approved ticket types for national TOD. We are using an internal system.

Testing is being carried out for rover tickets including Daysave to be issued via national TOD

Also when that is done we will be moving the product to webTIS whereas at the moment it is on a separate special site

This will also mean we can dispense with the 7 days advance booking requirement

So in the near future you should be able to buy your tickets at short notice and collect from Watford Junction

That sounds like great progress. Hopefully should mean that rovers and rangers can be purchased at ordinary ticket machines as well?

This sounds great any rough idea on the timescale of this.. obviously won't hold you to it.

That would be great as since 2009, I can only collect Daysave tickets from East Dulwich or Peckham Rye to travel on trains from LOROL managed Forest Hill.

I don't see why rover tickets shouldn't be available on TVMs already

Daysave is different because its only valid on the services of one operator whereas rover tickets are inter-available

Daysave is what is called a "special ticket" (see Ticketing and Settlement Agreement, "system pass") and under a rather strange rule cannot be sold at stations

Therefore it has always been limited to websites and off station locations such as tourist information offices

Been in a similar situation when in Penge, have to walk up to Gypsy Hill to collect any Advance/Daysave tickets.
