Have i missed something ? Didnt know a train derailed at all.

Reports are on BBC Wales news, but not much is known yet, apparently.

Ah, ok just saw the BBC News article, hope it isnt serious and i hope there isnt any injuries.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Article is updated now, train has about 30 pax onboard and there are no reports of injuries. Also says in the article that its believed the first car of the 2-car unit has derailed.

EDIT - Post on Twitter that it has hit a few cows, not confirmed though and could be a load of rubbish.

My colleague was working the Fishguard Flyer last week and it hit a fallen tree in that same section. Didn't derail that time though.

Cue cow jokes.

Expect you'll be shot down for that comment, some on here don't have a sense of humour in these circumstances!

Love this quote from the updated BBC story:

""I believe there were cows on the rail line and, unfortunately, the cows received fatal injuries but nobody at all was hurt on the train."

Anyone know what unit it was that was involved, and if it will have to be withdrawn from service for repairs?

Evacuated from the train and escorted along the track to busus.
Apologies for starting to "milk" this thread but the pax on the train were probably glad that this is July: in December or January the passengers might soon have been "friesian" to death..... :p =>

Amusing images being used to illustrate this story on WalesOnline -- front page icon photograph is of a Virgin Voyager (wrong company), main story main image is of a Class 153 (one carriage).

More trains seem to have derailed in the last month than in the previous year.

Put it this way - it was derailed all wheels first vehicle , and there are about 90 sleepers to be replaced.

I am no engineer , but the chances are it will need a bogie lift once back in the depot , and no doubt some work to the front end and no doubt the underneath equipment which may have been damaged.

The more wealthy amongst them would have no need for buses. A limousin would have been sent to pick them up:D

I saw the unit from the train in one of the sidings at Whitland on saturday. Couldn't see the damage as such, but front end looked pretty muddy!!

Line reopened yesterday, Sunday.
