Both WebTIS powered sites and the National Rail Enquiries website state that on Sundays, there is a service which departs Romsey at 08:19 on Sundays only, and then calls at Southampton Central, Fareham, Cosham, Havant, Chichester, Barnham, Worthing, Shoreham-by-sea, and Hove, arriving into Brighton at 1003. However, this service is not mentioned in any of FGW's timetables. Is there a reason for that?

It does exist and is mostly a positioning move running in service however on almost every weekend it is cancelled over various bits, diverted to Portsmouth or doesn't run at all. This weekend for example it starts at Southampton due to line closure from Romsey-Soton. There is a replacement bus at 0755 though. Maybe due to the almost dead certainty it won't run in its entirety fGW just don't bother declaring it at all!

It *may* have something to do with the area served. It isn't exactly in FGW territory is it? Local services south of Salisbury are not included in the FGW TT, although I must say that I wouldn't have expected their own services to match this (Portsmouth to Brighton services used to be included).

It *is* shown in SW (and presumably SN) timetables.

It just happens that there are no appropriate pages in the FGW Timetable so as a result it doesn't get picked up. You will see that trains that come through or return to to the Bristol area to or from Brighton are shewn at the bottom as if they were footnotes. There is also one at night from Brighton to Portsmouth Harbour.

None of the Brighton services are mentioned properly in the columns of the timetables, it's all done with footnotes and stuff.

They either intentionally missed it out completely, because there isn't a service to make it a footnote too, ie it would be to the left of the first Portsmouth bound service on a Sunday morning;

...or maybe it isn't running often enough during the current period because there are a lot of closures in the Romsey area on Sundays, for the gauge enhancement works.

You'll also see there are three random Brighton services shown in text form on their own at the very end of the timetable...

However, Southern show the service properly in their west coastway pocket timetable 13, from Southampton with a note explaining it starts at Romsey.

FGW's current attempt at explaining the Brighton services is pretty useless to be honest. I wonder if they are winding down to their cancellation...
