It appears the major investments planned for CP5 will be announced on Monday in a joint statement by Nick Clegg and David Cameron in an effort to recharge a beleaguered coalition. It is expected to include...

  • Midland Mainline electrification
  • GWML electrification - extension to Swansea
  • Northern Hub - not entirely clear what at this stage
  • ECML upgrades - not entirely clear what at this stage
  • Investment in key Freight locations

Hasnt there already been a thread for most of this. we have forgotten that it is nearly certain the go ahead to wire the Cardiff Valleys will also be given the go ahead on monday.

Still I would also like to see if they wire Margam yard and Llanwern so that some freights could potentially be hauled by electric locomotives. (it will be strange to see a class 90 working up stormy bank after so many years of seing class 37's, 56's etc doing it.
