Lineside Buildings

Folks,
l have observed the following buildings near to the following locations,lineside and was wondering what is inside them and what are they used for,if they get used.They are modern and are constructed using bricks.l have noted the following buildings at the following places,one on approach to Wishaw,one just after Whifflet,one on the wcml at Abington and also carstairs.They all look the same,anyone shed some light,thanks

Could be substations for the electrification overhead.

Not familiar with those particular locations but they could be anything. Relay rooms, old shunter cabins, electrical substations...
