Preston to Blackpool runs almost certain to produce a class 142?

On a weerd and wonderful combination of tickets one of Central Scotlands premier Pacer vedge is off rollercoster bashing at pleasure beach next month and as I can never resist wondered if anybody knows which services from Preston to iether north or south around 13:00 or any time after are almost guaranteed to produce a a pacer? Already asked this elsewhere but as its in a thread about buses thought I'd stick it up here too!

xx.02 to BPS agreed (150s do appear though), but are you sure about the xx.19 to BPN?

Off peak yes, it tends to be a 150 around the peaks.

It's the most likely to be a 142 anyway; the xx34 is a guaranteed 158, xx38 is a TPE and xx55 is a guaranteed 156.

So does that make Preston a contender for station with the most traction variety then?

Doubt it; Leeds has 15 regular classes, Preston only has 7.

Even Peterborough has 9 regular classes that call there:

Class 317s
Class 321s
Class 365s

Class 91s
HSTs

Class 153s
Class 156s
Class 158s
Class 170s

If you are into Pacers then Lancaster and Carnforth also get the 144s from Leeds.

Strangely the three times I have used the South line it has been on 150s, and I wouldn't have called any of them peak services.

From May I believe Colne-Blackpool South services have been booked all Sprinters, however this seems not to have been strictly adhered too! It is now roughly 50-50 between 142s and 150s, though Pacers are certainly less and less common now. On Sundays it is booked for 1 x 150 and 1 x 156.

T'was indeed not guarenteed 142, I've had a 156 on a Blackpool South service, when that one got to Kirkham and Wesham the one an hour earlier returned and was a 142. On our return the next Blackpool South working was a 150.

Much better personally than last year when it was super solidly 142!

I've used the South line at least twice a week since early May and the 0822 (and it's associated return working) is a 142 95% of the time.

to reword my "fake" answer, the south line can produce a pacer or a sprinter at any time.

North services could produce any of 142,156,150,158,185

Didn't realise 170s turned up at York; I thought they only worked on the Hull and South TPE lines. Or have I missed something? :?

They're used on some non-Hull diagrams, as well as the Sunday MAN-YRK limited stop shuttles.

except that it is usually a 144 :) well when i was working at keighley the other week i saw only 144s all day.
