Timetables that don't include all stops?

I live near Swanwick station, on the Southampton to Fareham line. It is served by both SWT and Southern. I have often used the Southern service from Southampton to Victoria to get to/from Gatwick.

I have just downloaded the current "Southampton, Portsmouth & Chichester to London" timetable, and Swanwick is no longer shown.
But the trains do stop there - this if the first time I have seen a timetable that doesn't show all the stops, and it seems that Swanwick is the only "missing" one..

Oversight, or deliberate for some reason? Do other timetables also do this?

Then you get many timetables that don't show all services. If you are travelling from Edinburgh - York for example East Coasts don't show XC's and XC's don't show east coasts services.

Never mind missing stations, how about missing trains.
Try finding the St Pancras - Scarborough service in table 39 for example.
Table 53 shows it as 10:16 at York, but it's not in table 39 at all.
The return is similarly difficult to track down.

And what about missing lines on maps? Northern Rail's network map, which is displayed at stations, denies the existence of the York-Scarborough and York-Darlington lines, along with MerseyRail! I know that Northern don't run over these routes but in the interests of passengers making connections they should be on there. A passenger looking at that map may well think that these journeys aren't possible by train without taking a ridiculously long route using only Northern services and think "Sod it, I'll drive". The result is that TPE, MerseyRail and Northern loose out on custom.

Agreed. Even the old railway companies included their rivals on maps, usually as a thinner line but they were there.

Anybody remember back somewhere around the mid-80s when BR had to bin around a quarter of a million pocket timetables for the Valley Lines because they'd left out Cardiff Queen St on EVERY route!!!

That sounds more like an error than a deliberate omission though.

Today of course they'd be recycled.

No, today they'd make up some PR reason for missing it out and maybe quietly fix it in the next edition of the timetable.

At least BR would occasionally admit they were wrong, that seems to be antithetical to modern principles of PR.

On a local stopping service near you
The LM Birmingham - Euston doesn't contain Marston Green.

It doesn't include any local stops, just main stations between New Street & Northampton
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
The LM Snow Hill Lines timetable:
Stratford-upon-Avon to Birmingham & Leamington Spa to Birmingham - doesn't include local stops between Birmingham Snow Hill and Worcester stations, doesn't include stations past Worcester. The Leamington Spa timetable doesn't include stops to London Marylebone
Birmingham to Worcester - doesn't include stops past Worcester, doesn't show local stops between Dorridge/Whitlock's End & Birmingham.

LM Birmingham - Wolverhampton - doesn't include various extensions to Scotland, Liverpool, Manchester & Wales. Doesn't include various extensions to Bournemouth, Bristol Temple Meads or Walsall/Rugeley. But I suppose if it did, that would be one hell of a massive timetable
