We loose about 50% automatically due to spelling errors etc, the rest are being read and shortlisted. The standard is very high and improving as the word spreads. Lots of graduates, ex forces and professional people are currently applying.

Where did that info come from?
PS...I'm in that last bunch too...but don't worry I'm not naive enough to think that its an easy battle for any of those sectors that you mention.

Trust me when I tell you that I am giving you accurate info. As I'm sure you can appreciate I can't say much more than that.

Di... seriously, you state these figures with confidence. Are those stats really genuine. I am amazed that it will come down to so few post shortlisting. Are you an inside man or do you have genuine prior experience?
Lanc
It has to come down to a manageable ammount for shortlisting, inviting hundreds for testing would take to long and isn't really necessary with the quality of applicants.
I assume that means based on the automatic spell check on the application that rejects English spellings, and the word "always"!
The spell check may highlight some English spelt worlds as misspelt but they do not get automaticaly rejected.
That's reassuring, thanks
Do ones with "inappropriate words" get rejected automatically? Even if the word is a perfectly common word?
There are about 10 jobs across the 3 depots (man pic, lime st and sheffield). There will probably be about 5000 applicants by closing, of which 2000 will have got through to being read, of those about 100 or so will be shortlisted.
Are you referring to grammatical errors?
Nope, it highlighted "always" as an "inappropriate word" No idea why!
The best advice I can give re. completing the application and getting through the first stage is to type your answer on 'word', ensure there are no errors, then copy and paste onto the application. That should ensure your answers get read and marked accordingly.
Di,
Sorry I do have other Q's....Do you have any idea when the assessments and interviews would start for this; only I know that the TOCs can be painfully slow at times,
Is there an appetite to get this lot moving quickly, or will it be the usual "on hold until vacancies arrive" ?
Sorry about the further Q's, but you do seem informative.

Good advice and done that very way!

The application advised giving as much detail as poss on current employment...I think I may well have bored them to death (or submission) not sure !
Lanc
Assessmens and interviews will take place over the next few months, things do take time though, especially during times of mass recruitment like this. Both HR and driver managers are dealing with the applications due to the volume received.
Things won't be put on hold because these vacancies need filling, simple as that! Additional driver instructors are being trained at the moment to train both qualified drivers coming from other TOC's amd guys off the street.

As long as you didn't exceed the 250 word limit then that won't be a problem.
If there is such a vast number of high quality applicants, why the extension to the deadline?
TPE must be one of the fastest growing TOC's at the min. They are opening new depots in Preston and Liverpool - lots of their routes are being wired and they have excellent performance figures.
