ATW stock used today Chester to Manchester

On the commute today we had a Class 158 to Manchester and a 2 car Class 175 on the peak return that was mobbed. I saw a 2 car Class 150 whilst waiting at Newton Le Willows on my way home. Does anyone know wht ATW have been using such old stock or reduced capacity 175's today on this route where we usually have adequate capacity 175's? Anything to do with the Olympics? I am used to 150's with Northern, but ATW usually provide far better stock.

Just a matter of what is available on the day. A big factor is sets being the right place at the start of day and if not some improvisation has to be made.
Something could happened the day before and upset diagrams, i.e. 101 causes or there may be sets stopped for repairs. You will get a bad day sometimes and nothing to do with the Olympics. It is better to run short formed or with the wrong class than cancel.

I work by Llandudno Junction and the trains have been delayed for most of the day and a few have been cancelled.

I saw a 150 running late when I popped out to see the Premier Service thunder through Colwyn Bay, just seems like a general balls up compared to most days.

Also the 19:57 out of the Bay was cancelled.

There was an issue at Chester depot this morning resulting in a shortage of units. The Crewe - Chester shuttles were caped this morning.

I saw a 150 running late when I popped out to see the Premier Service thunder through the day, just seems like a general balls up compared to most days.
