Confused re fare to Ryde Hoverport

I am intending to make a single journey from St Albans to Ryde Hoverport. I have a gold card season ticket between St Albans and Zones 1-6. I realise that it is not possible to use the online booking mechanisms to book from zone 6 but I thought booking from East Croydon would be my best bet. Using the Southern site I get a fare of £23.10 travelling on the 10:18 train. If, however I book from Victoria on the 10:02 (which I assume is the same train), I get a fare of £22.95!
Obviously, if this is the case I will get the Victoria ticket and still join the train at East Croydon (changing from FCC).
Is this a mistake - if so then what is the correct fare? Or is there a cheaper way?

No, this is correct. I'd imagine it is because from London Terminals to Portsmouth/Southsea there is competition (Southern from Victoria and South West Trains from Waterloo) and Southern price a cheaper 'via Barnham' fare, whereas from East Croydon there is only one option and Southern charge a higher fare.

As this is an Anytime fare there is nothing wrong with starting short at East Croydon.

For the record there are no fares from Boundary Zone 6 to Ryde Hoverport anyway (although there are to the other Ryde stations).

I believe its because the East Croydon to Ryde Hoverport (Not London) flow is owned by SWT.
Cheapest way I think is: East Croydon to Redhill Anytime Day Single £3.25 plus Redhill to Ryde Hoverport Route Barnham Anytime day Single £15.45 (both include Gold Card Discount). (There maybe a slightly cheaper BZ6 to Redhill fare)
On arrival at the Southsea hoverport you have to exchange your ticket for a hover travel reservation at the ticket window.
