Can anyone advise me of current traffic levels of traffic on the Fowey (Carne Point) branch? I have current WTT details which indicate paths for up to three return trips per day, most to/from Burngullow, but with the odd Parkandillack trip on Mon, Wed. Fri and Sat, but I'd like to know how many of these are used in practice. Thanks, JP

Two loaded trains a day, Monday to Friday,
plus corresponding empties, so twenty movements
a week in total...

These days, most trains are from Goonbarrow - traffic from
Parkandillack usually only amounts to one or two trains a week.

Access of freight train times now seems to be restricted to thr public for some strange reason - hope someone can find where this information now lurks
Same place as it has 'lurked' for the past 18 years (hint: see my sig!! ;)),
but unlike 'raw' WTT info, which costs nothing, the legwork working out which
of the several thousand WTT freight paths actually run and on which days
is a full time job (and then some), so I have to charge for access to my
timetables as I cannot afford to work for nothing, I'm afraid!!

I believe the railway has increased its prices, which may cause a reduction in traffic.

There are times for March 2011, and other info which may be of interest.

The railway has not increased its prices, the current five year contract remains as it did when it started. Contract expires Jan 2013, talks are current

Trains are

Monday 1 x Rocks (Goonbarrow), 1 x Drinnick Branch (Treviscoe / Parkandillack)
Tues 3 x Rocks
Wed 1 x Rocks, 1 x Drinnick Branch
Thurs 3 x Rocks
Fri 1 x Rocks, 1 x Drinnick branch

When the trains do not run it is due to customer cancellation. This is usually due to no ship in and store full, or Imery's equipment malfuntion

For example, this week one train was cancelled by customer Monday and three Tuesday, this was due to ships still being out in the channel and and almost full store

Thanks for those links. So may I take it that in practice that traffic is restricted to M-F and that any of the paths those days are likely to be used, but that 6G05/06 & 6P07/24 on Sats (presumably alternatives as both depart Fowey at 05:15) run only if there is a back log, or extra traffic? JP

Nor did the general public around 15 years ago, when one weekend a clay train ran, and got as far as Golant, and found the level crossing was blocked with parked cars overhanging it!
(Towaways & hefty fines etc)
Many thanks for the link, Freightmaster, they were freely available on opentraintimes!

They are generally only used when some incident has caused a cancellation and when there is a ship waiting to be loaded

However, that was then, it will soon be now

AFAIK, freight paths are still "freely available", as per this discussion:

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=68859

...I simply make it easier for people to plan their days out
by filtering out the hundreds of 'non runners' and listing the
remaining trains in a 'user friendly' format, showing things
which cannot be gleaned from the WTT or opentimes,
such as type of train, FOC and usual motive power. :)
