Tonight walking across Wandsworth Bridge I noticed a driveway adjacent to the London - Reading mainline is named Juniper Drive. Any connection with the 458 EMUs that pass less than 100 yards away from that point...?

Juniper Drive is located between Clapham Junction and Wandsworth Town; http://goo.gl/maps/H6jM

There was a thread that discussed locations in the UK with similar themes and names connected to the railway but can't find it.

Just behind Earl's Court you will find an Aisgill Avenue, Ivatt Place and Stanier Close.

All on the site of a Midland/LMS goods depot. This sort of thing happens all the time.

The Juniper thing is probably just coincidence, though.

Great Eastern Street near Liverpool Street, including the two tube carriages on top of a building along it.

Loads in Swindon

Great Western Way
Brunel Crescent
Gooch Street
North Star Avenue

And lots of place names e.g. Penzance St, Newcastle St, Manchester St

Adelante Close

I do wonder if it's location (by Bristol Parkway station) is purely coincidence.

Adam :D

Not coincidence! I don't know the history behind it, but the same estate also includes Voyager Close, Riviera Way, Kings Drive, Castle Court, Western Court, Manor Place, School Court, Star Ave and County Way!

I think the Virgin Active Health Club across the road is purely coincidental though!

The street connecting Marylebone Station with the main Marylebone Road is Great Central Street.
There is a Great Central Way a bit further along the Chiltern line at Neasden Junction, right by the Underground depot.

Not so much of a coincidence, just a good location for some interestingly named streets - I remember it (and it was mentioned on here somewhere else rather recently too) that this certain housing estate was built around the same time as FGW were introducing Adelantes onto the GWML. So, rather than just have your typical dull street name that’s in every other new housing estate, it seems the developers (with some railway leniency) obviously chose GWML history for it's streets.

In particular, i like Western Court and Adelante Close - Although i hope the latter isn’t unreliable, produces a list of faults as long as my arm and produces squealing brakes!

Brunel Drive in Stretton, it's the entrance to Stretton industrial estate and the Co-Op
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
In fact, what about the Great Northern Industrial Estate in Burton? Better than any street that!

Nearly a whole area of Hedge end near Southampton is railway themed.

The main route through this part of Hedge End is Maunsell Way.
Other street names include...

Adams Close
Terrier Close
Arthurs Gardens
Nelsons Gardens
Greyhound Gardens
Britannia Gardens
Peppercorn way
Wainwright Gardens
Collet Close
Stephenson Way
Marsh gardens
Stanier way
Churchward Gardens
Gresley Gardens
Garrett Close
Mallard Gardens
Beattie Rise
Budds Close
Drummond Road
Stirling Crescent
Watkin Road
Brunel Close
Repton Gardens (named after a Schools Class loco)
Stroudley Way
Elliot Rise
Hackworth Gardens
Hedley Gardens

There's a Grange Road and Grange Drive nearby, but they're named after a local hotel that was once a local manor house, and not a GWR loco.

In some of their responses to consultations on Network Rail's website, DB Schenker give their address as Wembley Offices, Pendolino Way, which seems to be one of the access roads to Wembley Depot.

Beeching Way in East Grinstead, built along the trackbed of the railway closed at the time of Beeching. Someone was having a laugh when they came up with that.

Was going to mention that, went down it last week to see the Riviera owned Mark 2 coach Olympic Standby sets.
Thanks, Sam

I used to (Many years ago) live in Stevenson street in Liverpool, bout 250 yards away from Wavertree Technology Park station. Maybe the person who named the street was inhibriated or something and meant to spell STEPHENSON!?

DB-Schenker's head office in Doncaster, is just off Wisconsin Drive.

If you remember your history, EWS was named "Wisconsin Central Transportation Corporation" for a very brief period of time in 1995.

Stanier Road in Bath, The access road into Sainburys next to the old Bath Green Park Station. Pines Way named after the Pines Express. I do recall two roads named after Donald Beale and Peter Smith.
