Im sure there's an easy explaination for this but pink spray paint has appeared on lineside objects covering anything from scrap rails to the old perminent way huts and bridges starting west of Whitchurch on the Waterloo-Exeter line and continuing for a few miles or so. Anyone know why this is? At a guess I would say its something to do with cutting back the vegetation although I have always been under the impressions it was done by numberous strimmers and not a rail based machine.

Maybe the person doing the spraying likes the colour pink. You can get all sorts of colours off the system.

Pink spray paint is perhaps less easily confused with the colours used to indicate any utilities (e.g. electricity cables).

I was told the reason is because of hedge trimming along there and it appears to be done by a Road Rail Vehicle under possession, the pink paint being there to mark out where any obstructions etc are. Theres a nice bit of pink spray coming round the curve towards Whitchurch that at first glance looks like a Pway guy with his arm in the air...

I used whatever colour was first to hand in the store cabin or that we had most of.

We tried to keep yellow for use on the relays for marking a paint line to lay sleepers to and for initial marking of cants.
