I don't ever recall noticing a bay platform at Exeter st David's. London services all terminate on throughs as do Barnstaple and exmouth services.

Thanks for compiling quite a large list! It must be a thing in the south, the majority of stations like so are in the south!

I've just thought of Ardrossan Town as well (the 17:35 service from GLC (high level)) terminates there.

172212 - Walsall does have a bay, p3 IIRC.
ATWalex101 - Correct it doesn't, just a buffer stop beyond the roadbridge after the platforms.

Bristol has Platform 2, Sheffield has 2C, Leamington Spa has Platform 1 and 4 as bays

Thanks, only been to Sheffield once and that was stuck on platform 8 for 10 mins, Bristol, I knew there had to be one somewhere, just couldn't think where. Leamington surprised me though, are they North facing at a guess?

Everything on the Watford DC lines (i.e. the Overground through Queen's Park (London)) runs Euston-Watford as far as I know, not one service operates between any other two stations.

I swear one day looking at NRE live departures late at night one day ages ago, there were a few departures to Queens park, maybe there were works on the line. Ill take your word for it though and take responsibility for my mistake

Well I've certainly been on a silverlink class 313 that turned at Queens Park (in the down platform) and went back south (to Primrose Hill in this case).

Does the station have to have a daily terminating move to qualify, or just the facility to terminate trains there as and when required?

Surbiton, Epsom, Basingstoke, Farnham, Southampton Central, Kensington Olympia*, Kentish Town**

* Does the Kensington Olympia - Wandsworth Road Southern service still run?
** Do Southeastern/FCC still have those joint services that terminate at Kentish Town?

Kenny O has a bay for the district line, but yes I believe said train to Wandsworth Road still runs (for now) though I don't immediately recall where it starts.

Kentish Town is valid and has already been mentioned.

Yes Worksop doesn't have any bay platform. Strange because Mansfield Woodhouse does, or was the Sheffield-Retford line there before the Robin Hood line?

I'm not sure about which was first in victorian times (or what the historic service pattern was) but don't forget that the Mansfield line only reopened in the 1990s, and as already been said, first Nottingham to Newstead, then NOT to Mansfield, then NOT to Worksop.

Hexham, Sunderland, Knaresborough, Harrogate, Knottingley, Hosforth.

Harrogate does have bay platform 2, but it isn't used for any passenger services (it is used for ECS though, and if you go there today (and any saturday) therell be something stabled in it). Does that count for these purposes?

Has Pontefract Monkhill been mentioned? Believe there are (or certainly used to be) trains that turn there.

Micklefield sees occasional use to turn trains (both via its own crossover and ecs to gasgoigne wood).

Bowes Park also sees occasional uae (disruptions etc) when trains use the neck north of the station to reverse (I've done this move myself).

TBH I've never noticed the bay at Harrogate, I'm guessing it is the one at the eastern end (is it actually accessible from the platforms?).

Someone mentioned Sheffield - there is at least 4 bays, two on each side, with the Leeds/Doncaster/Scunthorpe ones seeing high use.

Stevenage, Broxbourne, Milton Keynes Central, Bletchley, Birmingham Snow Hill are a few :P

Point of order - MKC has a terminus platform being 2A

Pendantic point of order 2 - Blethcley has a terminating platform of sorts being the Royal mail Dock. It isn't used by passenger trains mind!

I apologise if anyone has mentioned them. Find it a bit odd Kentish Town and St Albans City have been mentioned and not these

Luton and Bedford both have terminating services, although the electrification doesn't continue far past Bedford's platforms!

Yes, as long as 1 service is scheduled to terminate and all platforms are through you are fine :D

or just the facility to terminate trains there as and when required?

No we're going to have to count stations like that out, if we were to allow them there would be shedloads more stations to add to the already large list.

Bedford has (or had) a bay platform for the bletchley service

Yes it does.

I just felt since people were mentioning stations where there are regular terminating services which do not use the bays that Bedford would also be an option.

I always thought platform 3 at Walsall was a through platform

Nope, it will be after re-signalling but not yet. Leamington are North facing bays. Anyone said Birmingham International ? unless I have missed it.

Folkestone Central always seems to have had at least one terminating service, running Mon-Fri Only. In the current timetable, it's the 1803 from Charing Cross.

Southampton Central has platform 5 which is a bay platform (although rarely used), as does Basingstoke which is the platform for the FGW service to Reading.

I can think of Winchester, Poole, Havant, Fareham and Hilsea which I don't think have been mentioned yet.
