Until 2 September 2012 the following Railcards:
  • Family & Friends Railcard
  • Senior Railcard
  • 16-25 Railcard
are 20% off if booked via PizzaExpress using a code which you can get by buying a supermarket PizzaExpress pizza (currently 2 for £5 in Sainsburys), and using the code on the voucher inside the wrapper to buy the Railcard at PizzaExpress Offers.

So, First Great Western just sent me an e-mail with '10% off my first online booking of advance tickets'.

As useful as this may be a) How have they got my e-mail adress in thhe first place? - They've obviously got is because we've booked tickets through them before, and b) I take it that you can't use a railcard with it.

Anyone else got the same?

I got the same email to an email address I registered with FGW when they did the £5 off a £6 or more spend promotion. There is an unsubscribe link on the email so if you don't want further emails from them then I suggest you click it.

That was a good offer but shame they dont do the £5 off a £6 of more spend any more.

So far it will be 28% off then at the moment.

Can't see one but might there be a maximum stated somewhere in the small print?

Important: you must have an LM online account registered no later than Tuesday 14 August 2012. Tickets must be used between 15 August and 2 September, return up to a month later with off-peak returns.

One assumes that when they announced it, there was only a certain number of golds we could have won.

Since we entered every event theoretically we could have won all of them.

I bet they didn't think of that.

The wording of the opening paragraph suggests that it was decided upon when we had already won most of them and probably weren't realistically in the running for many more. Their sample table used 26 medals and I'd be shocked to find out that we could have won more than 33 at the time it was announced.

I'm liking the sound of this. :D I'm not a great fan of the Olympics, but Go Team GB!

Not such a good deal if Super Off Peak tickets are available - tried the link to get prices from Milton Keynes to Crewe on Saturday. Super-off peak return is usually £18. Following the link in the email about this offer, they only show the Off-peak return which is down from £27 to £19.15, no mention of the cheaper £18 ticket.

Also, the GroupSave 1 day travelcard for 4 people from MK-London (LM only, £40) does not appear, instead you're offered a price of £29 (undiscounted LM only groupsave fare) just for the bit to Euston, it doesn't seem possible to get the travelcard using the 29% off link.

Snap, just had the email link, I can't get it to work. No box for promo code.

You have to click the link in the email, and go right through the booking process until you're just about to pay. Then a page with one field in appears asking for the code.

LM are offering x% off advances/long distance off peak tickets where x is the number of gold medals Team GB get. Railcard discounts are on top of any saving.

Has anyone had the email through for this yet?

Use this link to get the discount.

Discounts are available on all London Midland Advance tickets and selected London Midland priced Off-Peak tickets. Examples of included Off-Peak tickets include Birmingham to Liverpool, Crewe to London and Stoke to London. Examples of excluded Off-Peak tickets include Crewe to Liverpool and Stafford to Birmingham.

Discounted tickets are indicated by a red asterisk.

My earlier point was that you can get cheaper tickets for some journeys if you don't follow that link and use the normal booking page. These cheaper fares do not show if you follow the link so you could end up paying more than necessary despite an alleged 29% discount. London Midland should make all fares available if you follow the link - simple.

Edit: Looks like they may have fixed this now.

You're more likely to get a Virgin "seat sale" as they look to maximise their revenue before the end of their franchise.

I too have been disappointed with the non-existence of any East Coast special offers since about March.

I'm guessing with the Jubilee and the Games they haven't needed much of an incentive to sell extra tickets at the moment :|

But these things are normally announced about two months ahead so nothing until November at least by the looks of it.
