FGW sleeper tickets

Hello,
Can anyone help - I think I have a quirk of sleeper ticket vouchers here but if I've got this wrong I'll be in a lot of trouble late one evening on Plymouth station...

I've booked a ticket, I think, for two to travel from Plymouth to London on the sleeper.

I have three coupons only:

1 being a STD GWR SLPSTWIN for two passengers, number 04297 and stating it is valid only with ticket 04296 for berths 19L, 20U

1 being the ticket 04296, type STD SLPADV TWN NOTV stating valid only with reservation(s) but stating passengers one. Price £119

1 being a further ticket 04298, same validity as 04296. Price £nil

I think this means I have two tickets and one reservation for one compartment with two berths? Is that right? Sorry if I'm being thick here but it is mildly confusing!

Are you sure the ticket don't say "SAN SLPADV TWN NOTV" in which case you are correct?

You have 1 reservation coupon for the berths and 2 tickets for travel with restriction M2:

OUTWARD TRAVEL
Valid on_date, FGW train and
berths shown on the ticket.​

No I wouldn't worry, SAN seems to be identifier given by the industry for this specific ticket type, whilst STD is clearly the class of the ticket (standard class). Assuming it says 'SLPADV TWN NOTV' I think you should be fine.

Just to confirm you have one coupon that has two berth reservations and two other coupons which both state one passenger and valid only with the reservation? In which case everything sounds to me like it's in order.

The ticket types for the Night Riviera twin advance fares (from most expensive to least expensive) are:

• SAB SLP TWIN NO TV
• SAM SLPADV TWN NOTV
• SAN SLPADV TWN NOTV
• SAP SLPADV TWN NOTV
• SAO SLPADV TWN NOTV

Broken down (if your interested) this means; SAX, is the code for the tier, SLPADV, denotes it is an advance ticket, TWN, means it is a twin booking and NOTV means the is no TV available like there is in the solo berths.

I have no idea why the first one is different but it does have a child fare available where as the others do not.

This is normal- I found it confusing too. Don't worry, the ticket is definitely for two people occupying one cabin. I guess it's programmed as one advance ticket which is why it prints as one passenger. I didn't have any troubles using it on the branch to Falmouth either, so it's obviously fairly well known what the validity is.

You're over thinking it. STD is the class of travel and "SLPADV TWN NOTV" is the description as printed on the ticket.

Other possible descriptions include SLP SOLO TV, SLP SOLO NO TV, SLPADV SOL NOTV, SLP ADV SOLO TV, and so on.

Basically, the Twin tickets are sold on a "per cabin" basis, hence there being two tickets, one at the package price and one at zero fare, and one reservation coupon.

Quite when you buy normal advance tickets it would say something like class [STD] and ticket type [ADVANCE] not [BSS ADVANCE] (a code for a [stn]DAR[/stn] - [stn]KGX[/stn] ticket). The same thing applies here.

Ahh right, it was the way it was described that confused me, I.e. "STD SLPADV TWN NOTV" rather than "STD" and "SLPADV TWN NOTV".

It all makes sense now.
