I don't think many people will find a useful £10 fare that they want to buy and spend over £10 to use the balance of their voucher.
Oh, I didn't know there were no fares near £10. I'm using mine to go to Manchester for 70p. :D

Why don't you sell tickets to the TOCs - highest bidder get's the benefit of you travelling on their trains...or some other TOCs.

Just got an email from East Coast:

Edinburgh to London for £10 Standard Class, and £30 First Class. Each Way.

Hello Graham,

As a Rewards member, we thought you should be the first to know that the East Coast seat sale is now open to Rewards members one day early. There are 125,000 cut-price seats available for journeys between Edinburgh and London. All you need to do is book by midnight 18 December 2012 for East Coast train travel between 7 January and 1 March 2013, excluding 15-24 February.

2FOR1 at London attractions

If you're planning a trip to London with this fantastic offer, you could take advantage of our London 2FOR1 entry offers, with great deals on loads of top attractions, spectacular shows and the best restaurants.

These tickets will then go on general sale on Thursday 13 December and won't be around for long...so make sure you're first in the queue for the sale scoop of the year!

Does anyone know how to get this? The offer page says it's not available to the general public until tomorrow, however I'm signed in yet can't figure out how to book it yet. It doesn't seem to show up on the journey planner.

It's currently open to holders of Rewards accounts only - it shows for me, so presumably you don't have one?

It showed me the £10 and £30 fares without me being signed in, although it doesn't if you don't use the link provided.

There wasn't much availability on trains to London on weekdays. If there aren't any that day for your destinations, the fares don't seem to visible either.

I do have a rewards account, and also received that email.

I've had a fairly good look at journeys between Edinburgh and London, and Leeds and London, but can't seem to get anything to come up other than the usual fares. I must be doing something wrong somewhere.. Maybe I'll just have to wait until they release them to the public.

It seems very fussy. You have to be logged into your account, then click on the link in the e-mail, then search from the page you are taken to (not the EC homepage otherwise you won't see the promotional fares).

Just successfully booked a return trip in Feb, but it took several attempts to get the fares to show.

Interestingly the small print makes it clear the cheap tickets are available between Leeds and London too (though not beyond Leeds towards Bradford/Harrogate/Skipton).

I guess the offer will be for journeys made only on EC trains, and not peak time trains, which all the EC services which start/finish at those stations are.

I'm fascinated by the whole Southern / TCB issue. Firstly, I had no idea that cashback sites were so popular! They've even found their way into the rail industry... but what confuses me is the range of tickets on sale at the Southern site. Until now, I've only used it to buy travelcards, which they obviously would sell, but without spending ages going through WebTIS (which seems to take an age for me to load!) just how far can we push it? Inverness > Kyle of Lochalsh @ 6.0% anyone?

I'm sure you get the cashback on any tickets booked through their site, regardless of whether or not you use their services.

If only First did cashback as their FGW booking engines sell rovers, including 14-day First Class ALR!

Excellent news - just had a little look at the FGW website and all the rovers that are conceivably valid on FGW services are there including things such as all the variants of the Heart of England Rovers. This will save me lots of time previously wasted in visiting booking offices to purchase rovers, particularly out of area ones. Now can all other TOCs start selling their rovers on the web? OK Scotrail do but that's First Group again.

As do Southern. But yes, I agree being able to buy Rovers online countrywide would be a very good thing! :)

I buy most of my tickets (primarily for use well outside of the Southern region) from Southern (unless travelling EC advance tickets in which I use EC, TPE for 50% off YP advance singles, Virgin for half-savers etc), clicking through Topcashback for my 6.06% and paying using my Santander 123 credit card for 3%. 9.6% cashback on the cost of a ticket I would buy anyway is not to be sniffed at!

How often do EC do that sort of offer?

In my experience it seems to be annually, generally for travel in the first couple of months of the year. Makes sense really, as this tends to be when trains are at their quietest.
