Crossrail state they will run 24 trains per hour when opened, so how many drivers will they need and when will they need to start recruiting?
Will their be guards on Crossrail?
As much as I hate to say it, I doubt there will be guards on Crossrail trains. I would imagine it would be a DOO service with a 'on-board manager'.
Wow your a bit early for that yet! Lol I would think that when Crossrail is completed and a franchise is awarded for it, the relevant TOC will prob advertise for qualified drivers first. But that is just a guess there. The question of how many drivers they will need, that depends on how many diagrams there are at each depot to be covered each day! I know a lot of the drivers on GA will go to cross rail as Gidea Park depot will probably be absorbed by Crossrail and there are quite a lot of drivers at GP! Plus a lot of drivers from other depots are planning on applying for it when it starts up.
Now who takes the one route wonders crown off them?!
Bakerloo/Victoria Line?

I doubt it'll even have that. It's an over-grown tube line that'll have manned stations throughout
...within reason, perhaps. But I really can't envisage Crossrail having more than one member of staff (ie the driver) onboard.
With the current operations, I the Shenfield GE services are DOO aren't they? What about Heathrow Connect, Express and the FGW Thames valley services that Crossrail will take over?
Are there Guards on all London Overground services?
Only between Willesden - Startford and Gospel Oak - Barking.

So it's a new line connecting and replacing existing DOO operations, running as a high frequency "metro"- if I owned property, I'd confidently stake it on Crossraill being DOO with roaming revenue protection staff.Yeah theyre all DOO.
Yes I am a bit early - nothing like planning ahead Lol! What about Ilford depot, presume CR will have a major impact on that too.
