Hi, I have an advance single from Edinburgh to Thurso on 16th March. I don't know whether the train from Perth to Inverness will be a 158, 170 or a combination. Seat is coach A 36F and its the 10.10 from Queen Street which I will be getting from Perth after arriving from the Edinburgh Perth train. The North train will be a 158 and I am on Coach B 06F. Does anyone have a seating plan for these units? Thanks

Scotrail don't publish seat plans for "safety and security reasons"

Unofficial ones here, but I can't vouch for their accuracy

Tried the link and it works so I have an idea of where I will be. Thanks for the reply.

That has to be the most pathetic excuse they could possibly have dreamt up.

If American Airlines can publish seat plans for planes then I suspect there is no security reason why a 158 operating in the Far North needs to have a secret seating layout..

Bare in mind that there are 2 or 3 types of 158 fit-out in service with ScotRail.

On Saturday 30 March I will be taking the 09:00 Inverness to Kyle.

I had heard that some scotrail units have declassified 1st class coaches.
Would anyone know about this service?

There is no first class service north of Inverness, so you are free to sit where you want.

The cl158 units have a "first class" area, but apart from a table light and a little curtain you would not notice the difference to be honest!. There isn't even a door between 1st and 2nd on most sets.
