It's unlikely anyone will know the exact allocation until the day, a week off, there's no guarantee!

it will prob be a 150 or a 144 (but don't take my word for it)
I thought 150s were barred from the northern end of the line? 144s, being East side units, seem equally unlikely!

I shall refrain from guessing, but I will see what worked it today when I'm back at work next week - though that doesn't guarantee anything, of course.

I would also have thought it'd be a 156 - as far as I know for quite a long time they were the only units that ever worked the Coast, but 142s have started to creep in over the last couple of years. However, any train I have ever seen bound for Barrow and beyond at Preston / Lancaster has been a 153 or 156 (aside from TPE 185s of course :P)

... but 142s have started to creep in over the last couple of years.
Tell me about it. A couple of years ago me and the wife were staying near Grange-over-Sands and did a Cumbrian Round Robin. The outward journey via the coast was a mind numbing 3 hour trip on an unrefurbished 142 (one of a pair on the working).
