I have also started to think Wembley should never have been rebuilt, what I used to think was a New National Sports Complex to be built outside London, in Manchester, a complex that would have housed a National Football Ground, National Rugby Ground(League and Union) and a new Lancashire Cricket Ground, some national sports working from the same complex...
Agree with most of that. except, I would have sited it near Derby - good transport links from all over the country and abroad, and fairly central, in an area where there are not that many top class venues, but near enough to Burton, Loughborough, even Lilleshall.

Where would Cup Finals go if there was no Wembley, somewhere like Twickenham, The Emirates or Old Trafford...

Old Trafford would suffice for such purposes: 75,000; failing that there's the Emirates at 60,000, or the soon to be expanded Eastlands at that amount too. Of course if possible (though it would probably only be for a World Cup) Twickenham could be used, at 80,000+.

Don't forget the Millenium Stadium too, which did Wembley's job admirably for the 7 years.

In other news, Crystal Palace have been relegated from the 2013-14 Premier League.

As a Crystal Palace supporter who has previously lived through a season of life in the Premier League can I just say that if we are relegated lets take the £120 million (bank manager happy:lol:) and run back to the Championship.

I think somewhere in the Midlands would be better than Manchester if only because everything seems to be going to London or Manchester these days <(. Mass transport would be more difficult without the tube though. Mind you I've no real problem with it being in London and following the Villa it won't bother me much :(

I wonder how much the FA would have to pay to essentially hire someone else's ground? It also leaves them without security unless some form of lease was signed. As for the Millennium Stadium politics demand the England national stadium be in England

If club grounds are used for domestic competition then how do you have a neutral venue if one of the teams plays their home games there (eg Man Utd at Old Trafford)?

Several other European FAs seem to cope well without one (Italy for example). I didn't suggest the Millennium Stadium for England, just some of the roles Wembley takes, such as other sport meets, non-England internationals and the domestic cup finals. Further, there would be no set in stone location, so if for example Man United made the FA Cup Final, one of the Emirates, Eastlands or Millenium stadia would be used instead of OT. Further, taking England internationals around the UK also increases people's chances to see the game, for example playing in Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester, London, Sheffield...

For that, a second ground could be nominated and placed on Standby, so if, say, Man Utd are to play a game on neutral territory then the 2nd named ground would be used. When it comes to teams contesting finals on there own grounds, it is not exactly unprecedented, was Chelseas Champions League victory over Munich actually in Munich

McCarthy went far too late that was the only mistake.

That £20m was probably easily spent on Premiership wages for rubbish Championship players by England's most mismanaged club by a mile.

Was the original court order calling off the game in any way faulty in its premise, noting that the points that led to the decision are still ones to be considered from what local knowledge has again been at pains to reiterate.

Let us never forget some disasters that have occurred in football stadiums in the past when such matters are a bone of contention between differing parties.

I was going to say I think he'll perhaps move instead of commuting from St Albans to Wolverhampton everyday, but then I remembered 'Arry Redknapp used to commute from Dorset to West Ham / Tottenham daily, so your lift to Molineux may still be on :D

Could it be argued that it would be quite the achievement to take it less seriously though?

Now looking at a much bigger stage than the English game and what the Football Association had proposed, what do you feel of the new FIFA position on racism in football, that affects both the clubs and the national teams and the sanctions that they propose ?

KJ commuted to Manchester when he was at Man City under Stuart Pearce, Wolvo is much easier. Especially the way I drive!

The thing is though with our record in sacking managers he would be best advised not to move house.

Couldn't tell you if I'm being honest. I do hope the stadium is safe though, especially if it's also going to be a Confederations Cup venue.

I approve of the position although my reservations regarding proof of any accusation remain. In other words sceptical but hopeful sums up my position.

He'd been appointed head coach, rather than manager. Not sure the differences but apparently they are not the same.
They have appointed a head coach as they have deemed the West Brom, Steve clarke scenario to be better than a manager.

As a long suffering Wolves fan I am just glad that there seems to have been a little bit of thought gone into the process for once. I've seen the bloke already get some stick off idiot Wolves fans. As with all our managers, I'm willing to give him a chance until, again as with all our managers, he proves his incompetence. :p

Looking at the European scene and in particular at Monaco, it will be interesting to see what the promised new input of top players will bring in the way of big names by Claudio Ranieri (remember him at a certain Premiership club), bankrolled by the seemingly bottomless pockets of the Russian oligarch, Dmitry Ryboloviev.

I was going to say, now that was a shock! Obviously the premier league website was right in publishing the article about his return a couple of days early....

Did anyone see the leaked article that went up for a few minutes ago saying Jose has been sacked by Chelsea FC, then quickly removed?

:)
