But you have to remember that a good proportion of Kendal's work is schools, which means older vehicles. And the 6 OT Tridents don't exactly help the age either, but you can't just decapitate new vehicles....

And what about that routemaster, was that included, because that would knock the average down a slight percentage point or so.. :p

Had my first ticket issued today from ME's new ERG machines. Much more compact. I believe all other C&NL depots will switch this week if they haven't already.

There are two Routemaster at Kendal 12671 (SMK 671F), & 12738 (SMK 738F), which not yet included on the fleet card.

I would like to wish forum member, Michael Bonwick a HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Last I heard, the S regs were off to Morecambe.

Guessing 18156 could be going into Ribble livery after goodness knows how many years of speculation!

The S reg Tridents will remain at CY for the forseeable as SC replace more older vehicles over in Chester & Birkenhead, 17019 is currently U/S requireing a new engine which will be fitted at GM and towed there in the next few days, 34620 had it's first outing today on the 109 after arriving in the AM

18156 TBC on the Livery, all the required authorisation is currently under way and once confirmed i will let you know, it co incides with an aniversary but as yet its still under wraps...;)

I heard 34620 replaced 33472 this morning...curtains for the ALX I guess

I was of the impression that the S regs would be moving over summer as Chorley have lost a number of school runs?

Can confirm that 34620 is in service at Chorley, spotted working 109s at Preston earlier. Also making more of an appearance following its transfer to Chorley is Renown 21109 which has been out on 109/113 Saturday and today.

EDIT
ALX200 33472 still in service at Chorley, out on 109/113 today (16th)

Seems odd though that no opportunity has been taken with these new ticket machines to site a card reader outside the drivers "area". I wondered this with the old machines where the new card reader was "stuck" on top - where for the want of a bit of extra wiring it could have been placed outside the "cab".

34620 is the replacement for 33472 which will move in September, both dart's 34680 & 34620 will then operate the 109/113 on a regular basis, 21109 is only on loan to CY and its next move is TBC.

I can confirm that 18156 will be painted in Ribble Livery and is currently under prep at CY, once done this will be a regular sight on Schools and will be the prefered replacement for 125's when Scania Enviro's are off for any reason, i'm sure it will look great when done and enthusiasts will flock to see it, once it arrives back i will post further details.

Just to inform you Stagecoach North West 12671 (RML2671) was out on test yesterday and is now ready for its new service that operates on Mondays, and Thursday to Sunday from Monday 22nd July until September 2nd 2013. The route starts at the Band Stand near Bowness on Windermere on a circular back to the Band Stand near Bowness on Windermere via Rayrigg Road and Windermere Railway Station taking 50 minutes. The route number is R1.

The bus looks great, all credit to the staff at Kendal

52627 was in Brampton out of service with a fitter attending to at 11.30 presumably having failed with the 0845 685 Newcastle > Carlisle. At 11.40 52626 arrived with the following 685 Newcastle > Carlisle working (departs Newcastle 0945).

As mentioned 33472 will go in September as it is being used for spare capacity whilst some of the MAN's get some attention over the summer..

34620 was noted on Sunday on the 20.40 109 from Preston to Chorley. This is unusual as this service is solo operated on Sundays and even during the week its a bit late for a Dart to be out on this service.

Scania's for tridents, is there anything happening in kendal?

The only thing that I am aware of, is the half-hourly 555 between Kendal - Keswick, during the six weeks summer holidays!, Should really be half-hourly Lancaster - Keswick for how buzy it gets at times!

Stagecoach to use 'luxury' buses, complete with free wi-fi and leather seats, on Carlisle-west Cumbria service
By Julian Whittle
Last updated at 12:00, Wednesday, 24 July 2013

Stagecoach is making a calculated bid to persuade commuters between west Cumbria and Carlisle to switch to the bus.
It says that four new double deckers, purchased at a cost of £650,000, offer standards of comfort and luxury never seen before on a bus route in Cumbria.
Features include hand-stitched, high-backed Lazzarini leather seats and free wi-fi.
They will enter service on the 300 route early next month.
This provides an hour frequency – two-hourly on Sundays – between Whitehaven and Carlisle via Distington, Workington, Flimby, Maryport, Aspatria, Wigton and Thursby.
The buses will be branded ‘Stagecoach Gold’ and finished a gold-and-blue livery.
A team of drivers will be dedicated to the route.
They have been getting extra training in customer service in readiness for the launch.
Stagecoach also promises that the vehicles will be subject to “a meticulous cleaning regime” as part of its strategy to convince motorists that the bus is a realistic alternative to their cars.
Nigel Winter, managing director of Stagecoach in Cumbria and North Lancashire, said: “It is a real coup for Cumbria to be chosen to receive these luxurious buses.
“Bus travel has come a long way in the past decade and more and more people are realising that it is the more sustainable, economically-friendly way to travel. You can even connect to the internet or pick up your emails using the free on-board wi-fi.”
The buses will be based at Stagecoach’s Lillyhall depot near Workington and are the first of their type to be deployed by the company in the north of England.
Stagecoach will offer weekly tickets aimed at commuters, offering unlimited travel from £3.71 a day.
The company saw off competition on the 300 route earlier this year.
Wigton firm Reays launched a service between Workington in Carlisle in January, only to withdraw it two months later when the expected passenger numbers failed to materialise.

What a great pity, that this does not apply to all buses from all depots.

Its not uncommon to find tickets which 3 or 4 months old. Especially when they have been pushed down the back or sides of the seats.

The oldest ticket I have ever found, was early this year, when I was on cutches, the ticket was dated 21 December 2008. It was found on a Morecambe based Olympian.

Took a trip up to The Lakes today and sampled the new Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancs Heritage Service R1 that operates a circular service between Bowness, Windermere and back to Bowness. The vehicle used is RML2671 which has been completely refurbished at Kendal depot – and a splendid job they have made of it too. A couple of photo’s here

Where did they obtain the Routemasters?

I agree, Kendal depot have done a really good job.

I think for next year, Stagecoach should convert the Routemasters as open top buses and use them on a Bowness Pier to Grasmere service.

On the current service, do Stagecoach drivers act as conductors?

Is the Routemaster kept at Kendal depot overnight & if so, does it run empty to Bowness?

Nowhere near enough to a Pacer :(
must have a go on this one!

The new gold 300s, are these Scanias again? I doubt the full ADL Version would cope. Guessing the existing 4 will be kept to see off the remaining Olies and perhaps the S Reg Tridents? 554 would do well if Scania opperated.↲

It came from storage at Stagecoach, Stockton and has been being prepared at Kendal for nearly 9 months. Drivers act as conductors [there are 3 regular ones for the period of the service]. On the day I was there the two drivers that were working swapped over halfway through their shifts [i.e one did half a day driving and half a day conducting, as did the other]. There is a service run to and from Kendal each day at the start & finish of service. HTH
