To the best of my knowledge, the bits left uncovered are where I'm travelled (so "Spot The Northern Tourist" and "Spot the Non League Groundhopper")

Can't recall if it's on the LU maps now, but I've recently scratched off the Emirates Line so that is complete both ways, just need the South London Line to return to a completed map again

My tube coverage isn't great.

Bakerloo
: Lambeth North to Kensal Green
Central: Holborn to Bethnal Green
Circle: All of it
District: Victoria to Tower Hill and Paddington to West Brompton
Hammersmith & City
: Paddington to Kings Cross
Jubilee: London Bridge to Canada Water
Metropolitan: Aldgate to Amersham (but no branches yet).
Northern: Leicester Square to Waterloo
Piccadilly: Kings Cross St Pancras to Green Park
Victoria: Victoria to Green Park
Waterloo & City: None of it.

Overground: West Brompton to Clapham Junction and Canada Water to Shadwell
DLR: Shadwell to Poplar and Poplar to Stratford

Updated following London trip on 02/09/2013, in which I also did the Chiltern service between South Ruislip and Paddington.

I've now done the High Barnet Branch (north of Kentish Town) and as it started chucking it down when I arrived at High Barnet I abandoned Neighbourhood Hunting in the Burbs and did Elephant to Waterloo on the Bakerloo and Thameslink from Farringdon to Kentish Town in the Dry!

(I also did the Millennium Bridge on Foot too ;) it squeaks in the wet)

Hi folks,

There's still quite a large chunk of the tube I haven't covered, particularly the outer zones.

This is what I HAVE covered so far:

Bakerloo: Paddington to Waterloo
Central: Shepherd's Bush to Stratford
Circle: Whole line covered
District: Southfields to Edgware Road/Bow Road
Hammersmith & City: Paddington to Kings Cross
Jubilee: Baker Street to North Greenwich
Metropolitan: Baker Street to Kings Cross
Northern: Waterloo/London Bridge to Camden Town
Piccadilly: Kings Cross to Earls Court
Victoria: Victoria to Highbury & Islington
DLR: Royal Victoria to Shadwell/Poplar to Stratford/Shadwell to Bank
Overground: Stratford to Camden Road/Shepherd's Bush to West Brompton (the latter of which was done a Southern 377 instead of a 378 due to an electrical supply problem)
Emirates Air Line: North Greenwich to Royal Victoria

Going on this information, would someone be able to plan the best way to finish covering the rest of the map? I also must note I have never been on the Croydon Tram or been on the Waterloo & City Line!

I would most likely start from Victoria as I'd probably get to London by coach.

Thanks in advance!

@DanTrainMan185: Just a couple of questions;

- What day will you be travelling?
- Approximately what time will you be starting out?
- Are there any places in particular you want to go?

So far planned a route that takes in Brixton, West Croydon, Wimbledon and Bank (then towards Cockfosters direction)

A weekday, most probably.

ert47 said:

Off-Peak, i.e. from 9.30am onwards.

ert47 said:

Not really, would have fancied a ride on HS1, but I know Oyster cards aren't valid.

Great! If you could send it to me, I'd be really grateful! Thanks so much!

I can make it all day.

Sorry its taken me a while to get this. Not sure how to time any of this. I have taken note of stations that you have not visited and tried to minimise revisits. Both routes some how end up in Harrow/Uxbridge areas...

Please correct me if any errors :D

ROUTE THAT COVERS MOST GROUND

1a.Take District to Tower Hill. Walk to Tower Gateway and take DLR to Limehouse. Take C2C to West Ham and take District to Upminster. Take C2C fast back to Barking.
Take London Overground to Blackhorse Road, change to Victoria Line. Take service to Walthamstow Central, double back and go to Kings Cross St. Pancras. Take Piccadilly Line Northbound to Cockfosters.

1b (Alternate, direct). Take Victoria Line Northbound to Kings Cross St. Pancras, change to Piccadilly Line to Cockfosters.

2. At Cockfosters, take bus 384 (STOP B, start of route) to High Barnet. Take Northern Line southbound to Camden Town (can change at Finchley Central to get to Mill Hill East, however the return train may leave you with a 15 min wait). Take Northbound Northern Line to Edgware.

3. Take BUS 142 (STOP F, towards Watford Junction) to Stanmore, and take Jubilee Line Southbound.

If its getting late...
4a. Change at Wembley Park and take Metropolitan Line Northbound to Harrow-on-the-Hill. Take BUS 182 (or most buses from STOP A) to Harrow& Wealdstone, at this point, you can take Overground Northbound to Watford Junction (make sure your ticket is valid) and take Southern/London Midland back to H&W or just take Bakerloo Line Southbound to London to end.

If you have a couple of hours to spare...
4b. As with a, but with additional stops. Take Jubilee to Bakers Street, then Northbound Bakerloo to Harrow & Wealdstone (can pop up to Watford Junction if needed). Buses from stop M to Harrow-On-The-Hill. Take Metropolitan to Uxbridge, then take Piccadilly back to London to end.

ROUTE INCLUDING TRAMLINK & W&C LINE

Starting at Victoria Underground Station, take southbound Victoria line to Stockwell (you can go to Brixton and double back to totally complete the line). Northern Line to Morden.
Take BUS 93 (STOP A toward Putney Bridge) to Wimbledon Station (you can take District and double back at Wimbeldon Park to finish that branch). Take Tramlink to West Croydon. Change for London Overground to Shadwell (can double back at Sydenham to cover Crystal Palace - New Cross could be done at another time, should you travel to Woolwich Arsenal or Lewisham on DLR).
Take DLR to Bank and change for Waterloo & City Line to Waterloo. Take National Rail SWT to Richmond.
Take Northbound District to Earls Court, then Westbound Piccadilly to Heathrow.

a.If you want to travel on Heathrow Express and Connect shuttles between terminals for free. Take Piccadilly to Terminal 5, change for Express service to Terminals 123, change again for Connect service to terminal 4. Take Piccadilly Line back towards Central London.
b. If you dont want to travel on Heathrow Express and Connect. Take Piccadilly to Terminal 123 via 4, change for service to terminal 5 and then take Piccadilly back towards Central London.

Change at Acton Town for North/Westbound Piccadilly service to Uxbridge. Double back to Ruislip and take Bus U10 to West Ruislip. Take Central Line towards London (double back to Ealing Broadway (then NR to Paddington) from East Acton if wanted) to end.

This is mine, I've decided that doing C2C doesn't count for completing the district.

Just thought I would pitch in on this one.

I have covered all LUL lines open since the 1960's incl Watford Jn & Ongar, Drayton Pk - Moorgate plus the old East London Line.

I remember travelling on a Met Line fast Uxbridge which passed non stop through Harrow-on-the-Hill platform 1 and used the flyover line which decended to West Harrow. In those days the Uxbridge fast services ran non stop Finchley Rd - Rayners Lane. Have also covered the Kennington loop on the Northern Line 38 Stock farewell tour and the connection between the Northern and Piccadilly Lines at Kings Cross.

I also recall travelling in the cab (by invitation) on the first Victoria Line train in passenger service from Victoria to Brixton.

I am however missing Heathrow terminal 5 and if London Overground is included the new extention to Clapham Jn, although have travelled on this when it was the South London Line. Reverting to the Heathrow extention I travelled on the first train to Hatton Cross which if memory recalls correctly was a 59 Stock unit. The 73 Stock was very restricted in its use at the time due to clearance issues. Must get to terminal 5 soonish.

I managed to cover almost all of LU at a leisurely pace over three half-days. The only bits left I have not managed to cover on the existing network are:
  • Watford North Chord on the Met;
    [*]Moorgate Bays;
    [*]Liverpool Street to Aldgate on H&C (engineering works only);

The last one on the list is unlikely to happen again now that Circle have been extended to Hammersmith, as further such workings will probably be branded Circle Line services.

Glad to report that all of the above have been cleared.

Now the next step is to do Eagle's suggestions.

Just discovered this thread.

Personally after completing the Watford-Rickmansworth chord last weekend, I believe have now covered the entire (publicly accessible) Underground, DLR, Tramlink, Overground and National Rail in London / Oystered NR with the exception of:

Both directions not done:
1. Marylebone to South Ruislip (might have done, but can't remember passing through Wembley Stadium station so maybe not)
2. Wimbledon to Clapham Jct via East Putney
3. St P Intl to Stratford Intl

One direction not done:
4. Heathrow to Hayes and Harlington (Connect)
5. Heathrow to Paddington (Express - might wait until Crossrail to avoid wasting money)
6. Emirates Greenwich to Royal Docks

I've also done a complete circumnavigation of London (clockwise only) by bus a la Diamond Geezer, but properly to the very edge. Should have documented it.

I moved to London in 2006, did most of the regular tube over summer 2009 when a company bought me a Z1-6 travelcard, then nothing for 3 years. In summer 2012 I spent about 40 days doing as much as possible, and then over the past year the odd day or so when I found out about new bits to cover. I have an 18+ Oyster and a railcard, and I think I spent about £200 in total (this includes some extra rail journeys too)

All this of course comes at the expense of not having covered much NR outside London. I've only done -
all of c2c
Virgin Euston-Coventry-Euston-Lancaster
Northern Lancaster-(coast)-Carlisle-Newcastle
FCC/Southern Leagrave-Brighton
FGW Paddington-Oxford, Paddington-Penzance, Par-Newquay, Slough-Windsor, Bristol-Taunton
SWT Waterloo-Bristol, Windsor-Chertsey-Woking-Guildford, Staines, Shepperton
SET Stratford-Ashford-Dover

Has anyone compiled a list of the "extras" i.e. not just riding the tube lines end to end? I'd like to make sure that I actually haven't missed out anything other than what I listed. I would include things like Platform 4 at High St Ken, bay platform at North Greenwich, etc.

A recent day out means I've now done everything east of Northolt on the Central Line.

Took blimmin' ages. I'd been hoping to tick off some of the more Northerly bits of the Northern Line as well, but that didn't happen...

I hope to cover more of the underground this year, did the stations in Zone 7/8/9, annoyingly I should have purchased a Zone 1-9 w Watford Junction card last weekend instead of 1-9 as I was at Watford High Street (niceish walk from Watford met)

Also I will tidy up my map with the lines.

Done the whole LU map. recently did the Rickmansworth to Watford curve, so just the Kennington loop left to do and i'm happy, not fussed about bays, crossovers etc. have to draw the line somewhere.

Done majority of the National rail on the TFL map too. everything in North London just a few fiddly bits south of the river and some DLR and croydon tram and i'll have completed the map. i'm sad!
