If you look on the RW facebook page, there is a screenshot from a new route which looks remarkably like the amusement park at Dawlish Warren...

So, Exeter to Plymouth anybody?

And also - any new stock? FGW 143 would be quite nice.

Only problem is that if it is the case, I didn't think the technology used on railworks allows routes to be 'joined', so no hope of going all of the way from Plymouth - Bristol in one go if I have indeed guessed correctly above

You can now create Scenario links. Whereby you can drive in a scenario on one route then continue on the other route.

So for example, somebody could create a Bristol - Plymouth scenario, with no need to quit and then load up the second scenario for the second leg? Awesome!

I'm still on TS13 as steam doesn't recognise my current internet as an internet connection, so wasn't aware of this :|

It needs to load the other route but it is essentially one big scenario.

Will have to be a thousand times better than the Bristol-Exeter route for me to part with my money. For something that was "painstakingly recreated", it was woefully inaccurate and visually very poor. Have not seen this new picture (any chance of a link? Can't find anything on FB), but I would say the signs are not promising if we're having to guess where it is!

Well, just proves how different opinions on the same thing can be!

Personally I really enjoyed Bristol to Exeter, and find it the best route I own! Perhaps it's the local interest.... who knows.

Worth remembering to that Bristol - Exeter was one of the earliest routes, and how the game and what it is capable of has developed since then.

Oh... only 28ish miles. That's a little bit of a letdown. Bet it will still be at full route price as well.

Well, Dawlish looks nothing like Dawlish (generic town, meet the sea...), but on the flip side that's quite nice detail for Dawlish Warren - the Crazy Golf is spot-on and the Go-Karts are very accurately located - and the dodgems aren't far off. But, like you say, 28 miles isn't a lot, so I'd expect every detail to be correct for a full price purchase.

Indeed - think we're missing a tunnel pretty soon after the station too ;)

Perhaps Plymouth will be a later add-on. Another opportunity to ask full price for something. (Don't forget, a simple reskin of a 377 was normal rolling stock price!)

But on a serious note, given the length of the ECML and GEML routes, I'd like to think they're 28 very good miles or the price changed to reflect this.

Did you look at their FB page, because the picture mentioned isn't very far down, even though it's a few days since it was mentioned.

What? RSC always tease people about their upcoming routes.

Er, yeah - thanks for the patronisation. I searched for Train Simulator (given that's what the game is called) and Railworks (given that's what it used to be called), but the Facebook page is Rail Simulator. Sure there's logic in there somewhere, but I don't know where it is.

There's a difference between teasing and having places look nothing like their real world counterparts. Dawlish, like I say, looks nothing like Dawlish - it's a bunch of generic town buildings on one side and a poorly textured beach and sea on the other. I mentioned the Bristol to Exeter route earlier - this is what I'm on about. This is apparently Exeter St Thomas. But they've not only not bothered to model the buildings there, but they haven't even bothered to get the ground levels right, and you can see the simply appalling result. And I paid money for this! Won't be making the same mistake for the Riviera Line.

If you're going to complain about that route I suggest you complain to Just Trains... RSC did not create Bristol to Exeter it is just sold through them on Steam.

If you go in-game then there are links to their Facebook, Twitter etc.

I see Keith Ross's WCML part 2 over shap is released today.

Looking like a good set of stock and it's Keith's so quality is going to be up with the best!

Looking at the rolling stock and liveries on the route provided once again its an older setup. Do you or anyone know roughly when its set? (Thinking 80s as most likely)

And before Railworks it was, you guessed it, Rail Simulator!

The page really needs renaming to Dovetail given that the company has rebranded from railsimulator.com to dovetail games.

They do have a Dovetail Games page, since they only have Train Simulator out currently it doesn't make sense to really market it.

Just had another thought when visiting a friend in Torbay today. What era is the route set in? I'm assuming modern day, but if it is, it will presumably be without any A380 Kingskerswell bypass works, making it hopelessly out of date before its even been released? The whole area alongside the railway around Aller Junction is almost completely unrecognisable now.

Why would that make it 'hopelessly' out of date? Presumably the period of the route is, say, '2005 - 2012'. You can't expect anyone to update a route in real time, presumably it reflects reality at the time the field trips and research were done.

Not being right up to date also allows for a wider timescale in scenarios too, i.e. East Croydon on the L-B route still has the distinctive bridge that used to carry mail over the railway that was demolished in 2011.

Railworks seems to release routes in their own little era, I noticed when driving the old steam route from Carlisle to Dumfries, (I think supposedly set in the 20s-30s), that the diverging route at Gretna Jn had flashing aspects! Pretty sure they weren't used until the 1970s, and not even today at that location!

It's actually set in the 60's.

However, the creator only had access to that particular default set of signals for that route, and they have flashing approach control set by default unfortunately.

I would imagine if they were to release a Riviera line in the next 6 weeks, possibly being able to get away with a bit later, you could drive trains down the Dawlish sea front as the next best thing, without the current drama. ;)

Well that's a positive thing - I wouldn't have out it past them charging £25.

Will most likely be getting it when I'm back in the UK. Closest I'm gonna get to the real thing for a little while!

How up to date is it - do you have to fly over the sea wall? ;)

It's fairly up to date, although I'd say it's more October of last year with calm seas and no damage :P You could always destroy it yourself in game ;) Would make for some interesting scenarios!

Edit* The topic title has also been updated by the mods so it isn't 'New route' anymore :P

I hope all are enjoying the route. Very good for the price off it.

Also for those other more scenarios, i've got one pending to go up on UKTS, which will post a link here when up & some railtoury sort of ones in making to.
