What a bloody waste that ATW offer is. Completely useless to me they're better off not doing them at all if they're not going to cater for everyone.

I think you meant to type 'me' at the end. :D Maybe they will ask you next time before planning an offer.

Student Money Saver are advertising this:
When you make a ticket purchase of £30+ you'll get a free £5 RSH voucher and when you spend £60+ you'll get a £10 voucher. These vouchers are have no minimum spend so it could mean a free train ticket!

IMPORTANT: to get this deal you must buy your initial tickets either by clicking the picture or through THIS LINK- if you go through Google or any other site you won't get your voucher. After that a voucher will be applied to your account within 14 days- this voucher expires on the 30th of April, so you've got loads of time to use it.

Expires: buy your tickets before 24/1/2014 to get a £5/£10 voucher

Not really. There are loads of other people who are still on child tickets who wish to travel on offers such as this. If I wanted to say 'me' at the end, I would have done.

I'm sure they'll be useful for a large number of people.

There are similar examples at other TOCS - I was child fare when I first took advantage of the cheap winter Settle-Carlisle line fares to holders of Metrocards (£2 adult at the time, now around £11).

Erm, would it not be more useful to you if you could find someone to go with?

Forgive me if I don't shed a tear for you, you already get half price tickets despite taking up a seat the same as anyone else does, what more do you want?

Not quite a franchished operator but just got an email to say that UKRailtours have got 24 London Kings X to York tickets for this Saturday (18th July) for £15 return. Need to call their office.

No it's fine and I see your point. These special offers don't get half price tickets so I don't benefit anyway, that's what I am a little ****ed at.

re: the ATW offer, can I buy both the monthly Wrexham Central to General pass AND the £10 return offer ticket at Manchester Piccadilly ticket office? Also, can I buy unlimited £10 return tickets to any destinations, during the month the Wrexham pass is valid? If I have to go to an ATW staffed station office it will be a bit inconvinient - is Chester the nearest to Manchester? Thanks!

Does it have to be Wrexham stations? Penhelig to Aberdovey appears to be the same price and I think they need the passenger counts more!

Just had this come through my work email:

The SWT Winter Sale will be every weekend between Saturday 18th Jan and Sun 23rd February. £10 for a day return. The price excludes cross-Solent travel although Red Funnel are offering discounted fares in conjunction with the offer.

www.southwesttrains.co.uk/wintersmiles This link will be active from Monday 13th Jan.

Does anyone know if a BoJ is permitted with these tickets?

I'm sure there was a mention of break of journey being prohibited before. The restriction has been publicised, I think the stickers on the TVMs advertising the tickets might even say break of journey is prohibited.

Thanks all. I found what Cletus has mentioned:

But no such wording on the T&C's. I think I will take a print out off the T&C's and Your rights – a summary from the NRCOC.

I only ask as I am bringing my brother on a trip and due to his disability, he may need a stop en-route.

Thanks again.

I used the similar offer back in the Summer which also prohibited break of journey, but I had no problem breaking my journey at Basingstoke.

When can you travel?

Weekdays

Travel within the green shaded area on the map at any time, or elsewhere after 0930hrs. In the evening, you can’t travel from London Euston with a Great Escape ticket between 1700-1830.

Weekends

To help prevent overcrowding, Great Escape tickets are not valid on direct services from Crewe, Alsager, Kidsgrove, Stoke-on-Trent, Stone, Stafford, Rugeley Trent Valley, Lichfield Trent Valley, Tamworth, Atherstone or Nuneaton arriving into London Euston before 1300hrs on Saturdays (feel free to travel via Birmingham/Coventry, though). There are no other time restrictions at weekends.

It seems to have less Trent valley restrictions on a weekday. Shame the restriction now applies from Tamworth (I believe it didn't last time)

Only just noticed that it now includes Crewe to Stafford stations.

It's somewhat odd that the promotion is more heavily restricted on a Saturday than on a weekday (it is possible to arrive in London from Nuneaton a full two hours earlier on a weekday), but the promotion is nonetheless excellent value for money and at the same time appropriately helps to restrict overcrowding on peak time commuter services (though I'm not looking forward to the 16:46 EUS to CRE!).

Have you got the link that was in the email? If so, could you post it here or PM it so we who haven't got the email can try and get it?

It may be an offer for irregular travellers as I only received it on an email address that I don't usually use for booking tickets and not on the main account. The code didn't work with my main email address so it doesn't look like it would be transferable. Moreover, it can only be used once per email address.
