OK…. We’ve had the floods, now the earthquake. What’s next? Locusts?

The 4.1 magnitude quake happened at about 13:21 GMT and was felt in Somerset, Devon and south Wales.

The epicentre was north of Ilfracombe, Devon, and south of the Gower in Wales and was at a depth of 3.1 miles (5km).

Devon and Cornwall Police said it had received "a few" calls from the North Devon area with one caller describing it as "quite a violent tremor".

The BGS said it had received reports of people feeling the quake in Dartmoor, Bristol, Taunton, Swansea, Llanelli, Exmouth, Barnstaple, Gloucester and South Molton.

Somehow, this completely passed me by. Felt nothing whatsoever in Ilfracombe - plenty of others on Facebook have said they did notice it though. Still, there's always the apocalypse to look forward to...

Felt it this afternoon, I thought next door had done something (they are having a lot of renovation work done). It was if the house jumped!

There are several tiny fractures around smaller regions that sometimes can make a very quick shake.

I once felt one which had the epicentre at 4 km away from my location and was 3.1 in Richter scale. It felt like someone blew some extra dynamite underground.

Felt a tremor from a quake very early one morning up here in east yorks a few years ago. A loud rumbling and house shook like it was on a base of jelly.
