I recieved an email at work and South West Trains are doing £14 off peak day returns and £5 for kids between 24/05/14 and 01/06/14 including week days with the same conditions as the recent Winter Smiles promotion i.e SWT only between one origin and one destination etc etc as long as you travel off peak. Details will be on SWT website soon

Is this definitely happening? I only ask as the one at Easter SWT wrongly advertised never materialised.

They are in the system at ticket offices and I sold a couple yesterday. These can be purchased on the day at ticket offices if you can't find them online. The ones you reffered to at Easter were online only so you should not have a problem this time round.

Don't know why RSH are never part of that promotion when the TOCs using the ATOS Origin booking engine are.

Still an improvement on last year, when I had to buy from the SWT website instead of Southern to receive the offer.

Sorry, PLUSBUS day tickets for Ayr, Bournemouth, Congleton, Dumfries, Edinburgh, Kilmarnock, Poole, Windermere are NOT available at the online offer price. If you buy PLUSBUS day tickets online for any of the places listed above, the normal fare will be charged (as shown in PLUSBUS leaflets & on
our website).

Now online - a bit draconian to not allow travel west of Salisbury (rather than Axminister or Honiton in previous promotions), particularly as the price is now greater. Presumably this reflects a capacity issue.

Does anyone know if travel to the Isle of Wight is allowed with SWT's May Promotion?

The terms and conditions say travel is allowed on SWT and Island Lines and only stations west of Salisbury appear to be specifically excluded however £14 tickets don't seem to be available on-line to the IoW.

Nope, Red Funnel don't have anything to do with this promotion. You'll have to buy separate ferry tickets.

Last time there was specific mention of discounted travel available on at least one of the ferry routes. As it isn't mentioned this time I think we can assume there are no discounts.

Capacity was a big problem in general with the previous offer, it certainly wasn't just an issue West of Salisbury. Having the ticket available everyday and not just Weekends this time should help spread the demand though. I suspect it's simply a case of the offer representing too good value for stations West of Salisbury.

I do remember that from last time. Looks like the T's&C's this time round have been poorly written.

They say that travel on Island Line is allowed but the offer's useless on Island Lines unless you can cross the water. Why pay £14 for the special offer when the most expensive return ticket on the IoW is only £5.60?

The T&Cs are certainly poorly written. What is this meant to me:
"Standard off-peak terms apply."

It's pretty much impossible to tell when the tickets are actually valid from that statement in the T&Cs.

Surely this just means the off peak restrictions apply for the return ticket you are buying? If that makes sense

I guess that's what they mean. There are some flows which have both Off Peak Returns and Off Peak Day Returns with differing restrictions though. It isn't clear which restriction applies. The wording could have been much clear.

I suspect that as long as one does not take the pee, there would be no issue.

Boo at not offering travel west of Salisbury, looks like I will be doing a 4-way spilt to get down to Plymouth this weekend.

southern have sent me an email offering a 15% discount

the pin number is 2846

offer ends 01 June

Just wondering where the pin number goes as I can't find the option to put the code in MixingDeck?

UPDATE: Southern tell me that there's supposed to be a direct link given to customers in an email.

Received an email from Virgin thanking me for my patience during the recent Watford blockade and offering £10 off their Advance fares with a min spend of £35, to be booked by end of June. Offer is email-specific with a unique PIN. May be worth checking email folders if you've subscribed to receive offers, as it is a rarity for them to offer discounts like this.
