Would an All Line Rover discounted with a Two Together Railcard not be valid for travel before 9:30/10am? I am looking at doing another All line rover next year but this time in First Class. I have a YP Railcard and Standard Class PRIV, however these do not apply to First Class rovers unfortunately.

My thoughts are that if the All Line Rover is not valid before 09:30/10am then it devalues the use of the Rover!

I draw your attention to the Two Together Railcard Terms and Conditions

8 Discounts are not valid for travel between 04:30 – 09:30 hours, Monday to Friday, except on Public Holidays. For full details please enquire at a station ticket office before You travel, phone National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50.

Considering the discount given for using the Railcard, I think five hours of non-use each weekday is quite fair.

The Two Together Railcard carries the time restriction, which would apply to the use of any ticket bought with that railcard's discount, including an All Line Rover.

NB that there appears to be an exception to the non-availability between 0430 to 0930 Monday to Friday. The terms and conditions say that the railcard is valid between those times for a seat (but not a berth) on a Sleeper train if you joined the train before 0430.

I presume both you and the other card holder must also travel together all all times

That is correct, as a condition for the Railcard.

Well we did a First Class ALR on a Two Together discount three weeks ago and it didn't really restrict us that badly - we planned around the first available train from our start point at or after 09:30 each day and went from there. Still managed around 4700 miles in the week so not that bad going.
Yes certain notable journeys are out of bounds on this restriction for £477.85 each (ie ten pence per mile) for a week of First Class travel it cant be bad.
If you want to travel earlier on the odd day, just top up with singles as appropriate to take you to 09:30.

Thank you to everyone that responded! I guess for the volume of discount it is still very good value and the later starts would mean a longer sleep in the mornings and just a later finish to make up for it ;)

As I have a PRIV, I could easily buy the Standard Class version for much less (around £120 for 7 days) and just buy my own food and drink along the way as that £350 or so difference would pay for quite a bit, it is more worthwhile for my friend who doesn't have a PRIV!

As a related question, does anyone know whether a First Class ALR is valid on ATW Premier Services? Or is a supplement payable? It's not clear whether this service with the food is First Class or something different!

You may ride in First Class and partake in all the free food and drink offerings. No supplement is payable.

Excellent news, thank you! I see on the menu that alcohol is chargeable, which is fair enough. Was just wondering if you get any soft drinks or any type of drinks offered with the meal for free at all?

Tea/coffee/water definitely available for free. Coke too I think although I have never asked for one but I saw someone order it on Friday and I don't think he was charged.

Alcohol is chargeable. The Welsh Cider in my trip report cost £2.85
