I have a Retired staff PTAC issued by London Underground (TfL) which entitles me to 75% discount on Anytime National Rail Fares, does anyone know if this discount will also apply to Off Peak fares as with ATOC Rail Staff?

Yes, Heathrow Express but that's not what you meant. Otherwise no, by definition a cross London journey needs to continue on National Rail and there isn't any NR presence at Heathrow.

The cheapest Off Peak ticket with a Cross London marker is a £7.10 CDS from Carpenders Park to Essex Road. No advantage over the inboundary SDS fares, although a return is £7.20 so there might be a saving to be made depending on the journey.

But there are no (or very few) in-boundary CDS/CDR fares, as these are oyster only, so this extension to priv will make little difference to the vast majority of cross-London priv journeys...

True, as the cheapest inboundary Anytime single fare is still cheaper than the cheapest outboundary Off-Peak single fare, but for return journeys there is money to be saved.

You're a bit of a broken record chief - I'm sure everyone of us would give you a Priv if it was up to us so you're preaching to the converted. Posting your discontent every day or two does nowt. I do my little bit by not charging NR staff on principle but telling us every few minutes that you aren't happy etc etc doesn't help you or is any more than my ranting about DOO, so I've stopped

Im surprised the press has not picked up on this yet giving the fact that just a couple of weeks ago the public fares rise was big news! I remember the Daily Mail last year running a story about how good rail staff perks were for travel when commuters were paying inflation busting amounts for season tickets!

Myself - im looking forward to the reduced priv rates as me and the family normally go through our 20 free boxes quickly.

I think it is best that it is kept on the down and low, as long as all eligible staff have been informed internally. Not going to be a good PR move to rub it in the face of the general travelling public in the current economic climate.

Every time I buy a ticket to collect/drop off my son I do get informed about the new trial by the ticket staff, just have one question and to be honest I do not want to sift through all the posts to see if it has been asked already.
We will from 7th September get the discount on the cheaper off-peak tickets, normally when you do purchase an off-peak ticket you also have to state what time train you will want to travel on, and then travel on that train, is this the case still or will you be able to make your journey on any off-peak train?

I think you are getting confused between off-peak tickets (which are valid on any train within a certain time period, eg after 0930), and advance tickets (which are only valid on a specific train).

The changes mean you can get a priv discount on off-peak tickets, but not on advance tickets.

That does sound logical, so walk up to counter on day of travel and get off-peak ticket for any train after the peak time travel restrictions.

Not necessarily. Some tickets have both morning and afternoon peak restrictions. Some have morning restrictions only. Other "Off-Peak" tickets are valid by any train, or valid by a nominal restriction such as "Not before 0415".

We really need to know your origin, destination and time of travel before we're able to give you informed advice.

Those using Smart or STAR: If it doesnt show when you use the TIS journey input screen, try using Journey Planner instead and put it in the basket from there.

Brfares.com haven't uploaded the new fares as yet as of 09:10 this morning.

BR Fares was updated to the NFM19 data last night. But the changes to PRIV fares don't seem to be part of NFM19 (which is prepared a few weeks before it comes into effect); from what people are saying it looks like they were only released last night, so only fares systems that have access to daily updates will be showing them, for the next few days at least. Systems that are updated less frequently (e.g. BRFares.com!) will unfortunately lag behind a bit...

Quite funny that - when the Kent Flyer tickets were repriced mid-NFM from £8.60 to £86.00, my TiS was showing the new price a day or two before RJIS and online journey planners did!
