Just looking at Real Time Trains and I notice the 1X01 train from North Pole International to North Pole International which runs at 2358 in the evening.

the max speed is timed for 88mph max and the formation consist of 9 reindeer and sleigh

Obviously this is not a real train but I was wondering is this a new thing or something done every year and is this only on Real Time Trains shown on official Network Rail Signalling as well?

On the subject of Christmas Day the only trains I can see running are some freight trains around Carlisle and some Class 319s around Crewe.

It's just an easter egg that Tom Cairns (guy who runs RTT) has put for the past few years. Nothing to do with NR :P

In my experience 1X01 was only used for the Royal Train, is Good King Wenceslas rostered for this service and is he actually qualified on sleigh and multiple reindeer stock ?

I believe it has been cancelled as the sleigh has failed its fitness to run exam. Can anyone confirm?

Obviously this is not a real train

;)

IIRC Mr. Cairns always leaves one or two stations off the calling points.

I'm not sure; rumour has it that there has been a set swap for traction knowledge purposes, and I have been advised that the following onboard announcement will be made:

"Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the Down Fast Brighton
When the snow lay round about
He picked up his baton
Brightly shone the green LED light
Though the frost was cruel
When a Piggy came in sight
Burning as winter fuel"

Is quite funny reading all the people who have searched for it on Trust

I also think there was a problem getting the reindeer to talk to each other and they sat down in depot...

Worse than that - reindeer stolen by poachers and sold for christmas dinners in Norway. Santa trying to hire Pacers as emergency replacements, but some presents may not arrive before 31 December.

He may have trouble getting a Pacer to fly, too :P

Last year it was booked to pass Imperial Wharf - I only noticed because you can see just by scrolling really fast :p God knows what it is now.

Prancer managed to keep to time, few interesting departure times arriving three minutes earlier than he departed the station before. Fair play

Well, the sleigh was actually a DeLorean.

Or at least that's what I'm going with.

That reminds me. Why aren't there (more) trains on Christmas Day?

{runs off and hides}

We are not going there on this thread. This thread is fun and brings joy to everyone that reads it. Let's not ruin the spirit of Christmas by having this fight. Please
