Hi

Just wondering if anyone on this forum works in the signal box, I've applied for a position that closed on 25/03/15 and currently awaiting to see if I am lucky enough to progress to the next stage. My background is in the royal navy as a weapon engineer as well as working for the British Red Cross as a support worker.

My cousin is a pway engineer that says his job is great but getting in is hard as so many people apply.

Anyway wish me luck

Thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew

If successful....you will be called to an assessment centre to partake in numerous tests lasting around 3 to 4 hours. After that, the top scores go through to Managers interview which involves various questions based around the Non Technical Skills which Network Rail are really fond of. If you make it through that you will be invited for a medical. If you pass the medical you are in. Once in.....you will be sent to Signal School in York (only centre running in the country). This course lasts around 13 weeks. You then return to the signal box for on the job training. Best of luck to you!

If successful you will complete an online situational judgement test, if and when you receive this you will have 5 days to complete this.

Prepare to wait.

One I did, It was 4 weeks after closing till I got the letter to invite to assessment. I also think its 5 working days, and you can receive the invite to the SJT up to 72 hours so 5-7 working days after the closing). So those who submitted on the 25th (I could be wrong) still have time to submit???, then HR need to wait all the scores and work out the percentile.

Either or, no matter what stage, as many will tell you prepare to wait.

Good luck with it. Getting through these stages are the hardest. :D
