I am off to the Glasgow area for a few days next week. I am reasonably familiar with spotting locations in the City Centre but was wondering if there is anywhere in the suburbs or further afield worth a visit.

I am mainly interested in getting the Glasgow based First Streetlites and Enviro 300's as well as anything of Stagecoach.

I am thinking of having a day in Kilmarnock or Cumnock.

Can anyone help with any locations worth visiting?

Braehead shopping centre will also give you a good selection of companies. if you want a real mix bag, why take the train to Coatbridge, it's only 15mins away.

Partick Interchange may be a good place for those three things. First Glasgow E300s pass through on the 2 (Airdrie/Baillieston - Faifley) and the 3 (Govan Interchange - Drumchapel Station) and FG's Streetlites can be seen on the 90 to/from Braehead, with the odd appearance on the aforementioned 2.
Stagecoach Western have a small presence in the form of a Solo on the 141 to/from Gartnavel Hospital.

In regards to variety outside of Glasgow itself, Clydebank is a good choice, with First Glasgow (6 routes), Glasgow Citybus, Avondale & McGills (3 routes each, though one McGills' service only operates on Sundays) all passing through the town's bus station.

Can someone please advise the location of Partick Interchange as I cannot find it on my map, and also the best location to head for in Coatbridge. Thanks.

Kilmarnock, Ayr & New Cumnock all have an allocation of Stagecoach vehicles.

Google is your friend: ;)
Partick interchange is right outside Partick subway and rail stations next to a Morrisons.

For Coatbridge, anywhere on South Circular Road.

If you take the train get off at Coatbridge Sunnyside and walk down Sunnyside road. You wont get any pics of DA coaches which are one of the smartest companies in the area, A trip to Airdrie 5mins along the road might help in this department.

I can third Coatbridge. I went a few years ago when there were still breadvans, but I caught nameless solos, a BMC 850 (ex carousel), SPT vehicles - every time I tried to leave something else worth photographing came along.

Small, but possibly with some interest (locals may shout me down) was Balloch. Concrete square but first and McGills (and right next to Loch Lomond, if that helps).

Don't bother with coatbridge then, most of the companies don't operate much on a Sunday. It's all spt work bar first 201 and caldercruix bus but that stops at Airdrie.

Some good pubs to enjoy a pint or two and watch buses in Central Glasgow! Also if anyone visits Partick please stand out on the main (Dumbarton) Road as the 1,2 & 3 do not go into the interchange in one direction (eastbound) as I found a day or two ago.Last full day in Scotland tomorrow and planning to head for Stirling for at least part of it.
Back to see the new arrivals in Cornwall next week, thanks for the updates on First Kernow thread!??????

Last full day in Scotland tomorrow and planning to head for Stirling for at least part of it.

Just to point a few things with Stirling,

Two independent operators:
* 55: Fallin - Stirling bus station only.
* B1/W1: Denny - Stirling bus station ( Gap for lunch)

Both don't operate much into the town centre, but if you stand at the green patch next to the roundabout between the bus and train station, you should be able to catch most of them.

Also the Uni bus does not operate via the bus station. Stagecoach operate hourly with No8, Bi houlry with no23 and No47.

Murry place is good place for service heading northwards.

Thanks for the advice, some really old types operated by the smaller operators in Clydebank and Airdrie! Some of it looked like it should not be in use any more.
