Just had an invite to interview next week, the railway HR Gods are fickle indeed! Not complaining though, got the rejection email last year.

Anyone else had a reply?

I got invited. My interview is on the 21st at 12 noon. What time are you in?

I was also rejected last year, tweeked my application this time and have interview on 21st at 1.00. If we pass interview do we than get invited for full day assessment similar to trainee train driver posts? Feeling nervous as had one failed test via DB Schenker when the nerves got the better of me during memory test! Good luck to everybody.

That's how it went last time I went for this job, I passed the manager interview then I was invited to assessment day. The assessments are the same as for mainline driver, though obviously the duties once qualified aren't.

I failed the first time too so this is also my final chance to pass. Good luck.

What does the assessment day involve?

One way of putting it.....forgetting about it myself, interview to prepare for first :)

Indeed. I'm actually looking forward to the interview. Currently going over what I want to say. I'm guessing a good amount of interviews will be held in the following weeks. How many applicants do they send to the assessment day?

There were 10 in my group, unsure how many went to assessment for the jobs. I don't know if there is just one position available or multiple.

Interview went well yesterday, the guys who interviewed me (Geoff and Wayne) were very friendly and put me at ease, couldn't have done any better so whatever happens I know I can say I did all I could, whats meant to be!!!
Didn't realise if an internal candidate applies and passses interview and assessment, no matter who scores the best the internal candidate will be accepted over all externals, this is a shame as I'm sure there will be plenty of internals.

There isn't anything you can do about it, unfortunately. The only grace is that, if you pass the assessments and interviews, you'll be put into the 'talent pool' and hope one day you'll get a call.

I recieved an e-mail from Northern today stating that I passed the interview stage and will be contacted again when they have a date for the assessments. Anyone else get this?

Hi all, how do we know it's 14th May? Have you been given dates as I've not heard anything since being told I passed interview stage.....or do you have inside information???

Got an email from Northern on May 1st confirming assessment date. I'd suggest you check your trash / junk mail folder on email in case it's gone into there. If it's not there give them a ring or send an email.

Hi Fred, did your last assessment with Northern include a mechanical test? It's not mentioned in the literature they sent and I thought this particular job would have this type of test - ie pully's and cogs ect.
The last assessment I had with DB Schenker did not include this type either, thought it was worth checking. Cheers Lee

Hi all, just to let you know I failed my second test, this time I managed to pass my weak test...memory but failed on the beep test (which I had previously passed but doesn't count). Passed all the other tests in the morning but got flustered with the counting of low/high beeps and lost my concentration and basically blew it. Seems unfare I have passed this part before but that's it for me, no more searcing on these websites, hope you all had better luck than me. Many thanks Lee:(

Sorry to hear that, Lee. I've just got back home. Me and Fred passed today (even though we both felt we were going home at 10am) - long day!
