Free ticket offered

Last year I received the offer of a free return ticket from East Coast due to a non delay related complaint that I made, that must be 'redeemed within 12 months' via their phone booking line.

Now I can ask them to confirm this, but before I do and just out of interest, do people think this will mean travel within 12 months or just purchase the tickets within 12 months (and therefore travel up to 12 weeks later)

If it says redeemed, it should mean booked.

Oddly enough, A few years back I had a similar offer from Virgin Trains who after a horrifying 12 hour journey from Birmingham to London offered as compensation 2 free first class return tickets on their trains.
Needless to say I went with my other half from London to Glasgow both at peak times

But I had to phone up and book the tickets on their booking line so I guess its exactly the same for you

When I had a similar issue East Coast issued me with a scratchcard ticket, and travel had to be completed within twelve months of issue. The date of issue, and who issued it, was handwritten on the ticket. I had to handwrite the origin and destination and scratch off the dates of travel.

It depends if VTEC are using the same system.
