Door trouble!

I was at Glasgow Central this morning and boarded the 0737 to Kilmarnock but after around 10 minutes after departure time it was clear something was wrong.Scotrail staff were on the platform and in and out the train.Conversations ensued and phone calls made before we were told that the train was cancelled as the driver could not lock his cab door (into the saloon I presume).
I have never been on a train cancelled for that reason before.

Could have be a failure of interlock on the external cab door. That's a failure all day long.

Probably the cab door into the saloon yes . If its anything like Northerns 156's they are a sometimes a nightmare to lock . I once remember trying 3 different BR1 keys in one of them only to find one of them actually worked the lock .

It's more embarrassing when you try to unlock the cab door on a 141 and snap your BR1 key in the lock

Luckily on a heritage line so no delay minutes to pay out for.

156511 is the culprit. Coded 'M7' (Doors) but the TRUST incident text doesn't elaborate! It's a fairly common cause of cancellation and could be any number of faults which mean the train can't remain in traffic as a result of the Rule Book (TW5) or the TOCs Defective on Train Equipment (DOTE) procedures.

Didn't know 156s used br1 keys for cab doors - its t keys on all our units! Sounds very awkward....

they have a handle on to open and close when unlocked but if you want to lock the door you have to use a br1 to lock it , say when you go out doing tickets , or when you want to be locked in the cab on a fri or sat night . Especially because of the number of guys and girls ive had walk in pulling their pants down because they think it is a toilet .

Learn something new everyday! Sounds like a very awkward method of working mind.

And yes, we have the same toilet issue on ours,but luckily the door always locks behind you so I've not had anyone make it inside.... Yet!
