Can anyone tell me the current status of 86201 Sir William A Stanier and 86235?

201 is apparently in the Willesden Junction Sidings, and 235 is still in Anglia livery and was dropped off at Leicester by a DCR 31 a couple of weeks ago as part of a move from the GCR to Leeds Neville Hill with 41001.

Who owns them, and what is their future likely to hold?

86235 was still at Leicester on Wednesday, parked with 37800 and visible from the mainline.

What's happening to this locomotive? Is it being sold, revived, restored, stored?

Ahhh didn't realise that 86 201 and 86 101 were the same! Thank you.

86101 Doesn't Have a high enough ETH, so can't work the Sleeper however the 87 has worked it Numerous times to the joy of enthusiast's. The 86 currently works some of the ECS movements to/from Wembley-Euston and can be seen hanging around Euston most of the time AFAIK.

As for the other 86235,it's future is uncertain at the moment, could be sold for spares it all depends on what UKRL (UK Rail Leasing) decide what to do with it, could be done up for spot hire, or sold for spares if someone needs them, For example 86401, and the FL 86/5and 86/6 fleets. But it is visible at Leicester at the moment.

Technically, 86101 doesn't have a sufficient ETH rating, but I'm told it can work the lowland set if the stock has been pre-heated.

Interesting, however I would have assumed that without a sufficient ETH rating it would have not been able keep the stock heated and so on even if it has already been pre-heated. I'm not fully in the know so I wont dismiss it as incorrect you could well be right.

I'm not fully in the know either, but I asked the question to one of the ACLG technical guys who gave me that response. The use of the 86 would naturally be as a last resort, but if the stock was pre-heated or the ECS loco heated it whilst at Euston, etc, then apparently there is nothing to stop '101...

235 is nothing to do with UKRL. Leicester is just being used as a site to undertake the assessment work as it was used to overhaul 401.

The ECS locos are used to heat the stock, there's no issue in supplying the stock if it is pre-heated as the current draw is substantially less than when the stock is cold and being heated on a cold day. Current draw is easily measured by a clamp on meter....so current draw is understood.
